That's pretty cool and unusual to see in this area. Bravo.

That's a pretty specific sub-genre for an event that long. As much as I love EDM, I personally wouldn't enjoy an exclusively psytrance event. That's just me though.

OOOOOOOOK

Starting to confuse me. That's pretty random and weird. No complaints though.

No entry without unwillingly signing up for our mailing list.

That seems unnecessary.

BYOB - sounds more like a NASCAR event. Never seen that before. I understand that the venue probably doesn't have a liquor license, but I don't know what to do for ten hours without drinks. And I'm not doing the redneck thing and bringing a cooler.

Smoking restricted to outdoor chill area

Unusual, but I like that part.

...hire a janitor. I understand that it is nice for people to be polite and pick up after themselves, but don't phrase it in such a way that it comes across as you giving orders for people paying to come to your event.

Might as well throw in scientology and faith healing.

This really sounds more like a cult meeting than a dance event.

Don't be so hard on the guy, Chris! This sounds like a great idea, although I'm wondering if the Psy scene in ATL is really that big?

Is the RSVP and BYOB there to get around the lack of liquor licenses and some sort of guestlist law? I'm not so sure about the club laws in this city, but I wonder what one has to do to get around requiring a "guestlist" for events...

And what is the venue for the event? Or is this a "OMG this isn't a Rave!" type event where we are all meeting at a secret location to get a secret phone number that we call secretly to get the secret passcode that we mention at the secret venue off of Secret Ave & 10th?

(Sorry, I just HAD to post that ) But really, great idea; I might have to make it out for this one!

PS - Not trying to be hard on the guy. You have to admit, the event is a bit strange and over-the-top.

He asked why I was confused, so I told him. (Don't ask the question if you don't want an honest answer.)

hey guys!
We are actually 2.5 yrs into a very successful run of psytrance events here in Atlanta. Our events typically draw 250-350 people per event, and we attempt to throw events every other month or so. Its all psy in the main room, chill, ambient, and dub etc in the chill room. Full UV, psychedelic deco throughout. Check our gallery at http://tribes.tribe.net/atlantapsytrance for pictures of previous events.

The event will be held at the Spring 4th center...I'm sure many of you have been there before, so you know how the venue works. We are required to make our event private/rsvp only.

BOOM

You're right. This event does look a bit out-of-place in a city with two Deep House crews, a "big-name DJ" promoter, and a ton of Hip-Hop. I don't think there's that much interest in Psy here to warrant such an event, and even curious parties may be put off by the registration and ticket price. Also, not disclosing the venue can lead to more un-wanted attention than by putting that info into the open.

I wish more promoters served tea at their parties. I'd have something to drink besides water

(but I'll try to avoid the brownies...)

PS: Chris, when is our next get-together/practice spinning day?

I'm game whenev. I have to get one of my TT's fixed b/c I think one of the tone arms is bust. I packed up the CDJ's and am putting Serato + TT's in its place for a while, so bring CD's.

I'm actually pretty busy this weekend, but definitely soon my friend.
