...would the "dance music scene" be any different? How?

Kind of an interesting thought experiment, I think, especially since some influential clubs like the Paradise Garage had "no alcohol" policies.

Well... we'd get rid of the random beerboys for one.

Of course it would be different. Just like if you removed drugs from the equation. It is what gives this scene a boost and a motivation for the majority of the people to go out. It's a party. And what's a party without booze?!

If anything, it'd get rid of the douchebag guidos (Not the Italians :P)

People go to clubs to drink and dance and have a good time or listen to DJ playing?

Edit: I donno about 'Paradise Garage' you mentioned.. I have never been there.. but I would never go to any disc or club that have 'No Alcohol Policy'.

Unfortunately you will never go there either. Read up about it though. It was a very influential club. I recommend reading Last Night A DJ Saved My Life by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton if you want to read a lot about it.
