Mixing on the computer

Hey guys, I was just wondering... since I'm not priviliged enough to have my own set of tables, do any of you know of a good program for the computer that can be used to mix mp3s? I'm not talking about VirtualTurntables or anything like that... i need something that actually has a mixer with real features in it... thanks

atomixmp3 or mixmeister...2 sound cards are needed to really do some mixing, but for starters, those are the best to start out with. Atomixmp3 might be not have as much features as mixmeister, but it does the job well!

I like atommix the best, just because you can directly mix and make wav files to burno on a cd. I've heard of a lot of people who don't like mixmeister. Traktor seems to be the most proffesional. I'm just learning how to use this one. There's other's but I don't think they are worthy of mentioning.

mixmeister is probably the easiest way to make your own mixes, cuz you don't actually have to know how to beatmatch or anything.

PCDJ Red and Traktor are probably the two best computer mixing programs I've used. I really like PCDJ and that's what I use. It has all the features I need. The ONE thing I don't like about Traktor is that you can't adjust the range of the pitch control. At least I couldn't figure out a way. But in PCDJ you can set the pitch control range to whatever you want.

i'd have to say mixmeister all the way. i gained so much reputation from making mixing cd's with that before i went to vinyl. my cd's spread quick and now a few people know my namebecause of them, so it gets me more gigs

Are you kidding me?? When I want to make a mix CD from MP3s, use mixmeister - no mixing involved. Just tinkering. Atomixmp3 is a toy - and lets be honest, there's no fuckin mixing in that either. One press of the "Magic" button, and bobs your uncle, two tracks at the same speed. A fuckin monkey with no arms could mix on Atomixmp3.

If u want to learn how to mix with real turntables but using MP3, I STRONGLY suggest Virtual Turntables. It's the only way u will get the same feel for missed beats, and having to listen to two channels independantly - proper mixing. No automatic beatmatching here!

All in all, u want to be doing the real thing - so give urself a headstart!

true that. if you want the closest thing possible to real cdjs or real turntables, you gotta go with vtt.

Somebody here said "don't use AtomixMP3, it's a toy; use Mixmeister instead."

Excuse me for being blunt but this is stupid and incorrect. Mixmeister is a toy, because you set everything up prior to execution, and you don't even need to mix the tracks, because the exact details of the transition are pre-arranged.

In AtomixMP3, though, you DO need to mix. There's nothing pre-arranged for you, you have to make the transition yourself for each pair of songs.

VTT
it's the best for mixing. it's just like having a pair of technics, except for the actual starting and stopping the record.

you can download VTT here http://www.carrotinnovations.com

PCDJ and traktor have to many other features, not like turntable mixing imo.

atomix is a joke, a toy, i don't know how people can even use that thing.

mixmeister is good for making CDs, but isn't a dj mixing program, it's more like a wav editor.

there is also BPM studio, a really expensive highclass solution i haven't tried yet.

and finally there is the new kid on the block, which i think is going to rock. open source, free distribution, successor to VTT.

learn all about the "new kid" DTT here: http://www.digitalturntables.co.uk/

for those who don't click links, here's a pic, i can't wait for it to come out.
