Heylooooooooo!!

I no that many people are really after some software to database what mp3's they have, ive posted this once or twice before, and i still get pm's about it, so i thought id bring it up again

The program is called MP3 Stocker, and basically it works by putting in a cd-r filled with mp3's, or selecting a folder in ur Hard drive, it scans all the mp3's in that folder / root directory of a cd-r, and adds them all to a database, summit like this:-



As you can see, this program will take the artist, track name, media name (cd-r or hard drive folder), bit rate, track length, track size. (there are many more options, but it works like an excel spreadsheet with tabs at the top where u can remove bits u dont want).

Instructions
When u install it, say no to the catche (unless u want it) otherwise it'll start coping tracks to ur hard drive. Say no to the PC-Robot DJ, unless u want it to start pissing around with Winamp fading crap.

After installing and getting the window above up (obviously with no tracks in it).

Click add new tracks, u can use either method, i use the wizard, it all does the same stuff so wizard is just easier, select the drive and the media name (media name = name u want the tracks to come under, i have labelled all my MP3 cd's MP3 1, MP3 2, MP3 3 etc, so name the media name whatever u have called ur cd-r's).

When u enter the keyword / structure filter thingy, remove all that are there, and add this one -

Artist - Songname.mp3

And only that one, click yes yes yes and it'll automactially add all the .mp3 files from the location and make a database from them. Do this for all ur media and you'll have a database of all the music u own. If someone asks u for a track, say Ferry Corsten summit, press F, and it'll scan to all the F tracks, simple

If u wana get rid of all the crappy data it shows at the top, just move the sliders around to get rid of, one of the pull down menus has a "save current window layout" option, this'll save the new window layout. To save additions or changes to the database, goto exit and it'll ask to save before closing.

Sorry if that all sounds patronising, but many who ive sent this to have had massive problems, so hopfully everyone should be ok

does it take the track titles from the id3 tags or the filenames? coz i have all mine neatly filenamed but i leave the tags...

I wrote this MP3 Database utility a while ago using C# and VS.net. link with the full description is here: http://www.devhood.com/tools/tool_d...spx?tool_id=120

But the latest version (just compiled with the final release of the .NET Framework) is here: http://www.rawweb.net:8080/musicdatabase.html

It catalogs everything about the MP3: Bitrate, Frequency, Mode, Length, Filename, and an additional field called CD Name (in case you organized your livemixes on CDs). The program works with MS Access and MS SQL Server 2000.

I also have a very nifty information page that connects to this database and allows you to dynamically create a playlist and then stream it from the server. I'll probably post this code up in a while since I'm still fixing some minor things up in that code.

I did all of this the HARD WAY, and use a tagging program to keep everything tagged.

But this will be useful to see which songs have low bit-rate...can I just look at all of my songs' bit-rate without it making directories or fucking things up?

Using my app and the soon-to-be-released web part, yes. You can search by CD, or by keyword.

With Stocker, just click the 'bit rate' tab, and it'll organise them with the lowest bit rate at the top, and best at the bottom, same if u clicked 'length', it'll put the shortest at the top, and the longest at the bottom

There's just one thing that bothers me.. When I make a .htm file of it, it's sorted by Artist, Songname, Album, Genre, Disc, Time, Bitrate and size, but I would want it to get rid of the album and genre, but no.. Can I somehow edit this? Didn't find anything like it, so..

Correction, it was great, now it's fucked up.
After I added 8 mp3 CDs I tried to add the 9th, but it crashed. I tried again with same results. Even after a reboot it crashed.
I use Win XP BTW
