Erm, more space, thats about it. You can have, for example, your sequencer or VSTs open on one screen and your mixer open on another screen so you can go back and forth much quicker. Its not really essential its just a nice luxury...

Sequencer 1 screen, Vst's other screen. I could never be with less than 2.

I typically have track view open in one screen and either my piano roll or mixing console view open in the other, depending on what I'm doing (creating vs. mixing).

If you do any other kind of software-intense work (e.g., web design, photo/video editing, writing, data analysis), you'll also get a huge benefit out of dual screens)

Once you try two screens, you'll never go back.

its easier to do more things at the same time when you have 2 screens.

I also like being able to see shitloads of piano roll at once when doing long melodies, so I sometimes extend it across both (I have dual 22" widescreens).

I have 2 screens and I would never go back to one screen. When I work with my Laptop I think its just too small.
unless you have a huge monitor with huge resolution, Especially when working in a sequencer 2 screens pay off. One screen is just for vsts, one for the arrangement.

i agree with everyone else here. Can't bear to go back to only using one monitor! I myself mostly keep the arrangement page on the first screen and the mixer opened on the second. I see some people use more than two, but i think that'll just piss me off if i lose track of where my mouse arrow is lol

I'm using a single 23" Apple Cinema Display and it works out fine for me. However, on Logic, the user interface has been optimized for a single monitor.

I didn't like the idea of using two monitors because I like to have one monitor directly in front of me, and with two monitors I'd always be looking to one side. There are a few things I miss with two monitors, but the Cinema Display is big enough to accommodate my needs.
