'Undecided' - newbie / first post - vocal trancer

Hey everyone, just joined the site - was recommended to me by a fellow electronica producer out in LA.

Here is a link to a track I have been working on. I would appreciate feedback on the mix. No matter how hard I try my mixes always sound 'closed up' so any tips on EQ would be fantastic.

I dont have any releases under my belt and I would like to get this signed when completed.

Any thoughts? I appreciate the time.
Cheers

I like it a lot. It sounds very aesthetic. I'm not sure if the vocals are fitting quite right though EQ wise. But I don't know if I'm even right on that statement and not sure how I would fix it. I suck.

Yeah, man - this is a killer track! I like the darkness of it and the energy. Nice vox, too, and I'm a sucker for good female vocals. I have no criticisms of the arrangement, melodies, etc., but I agree that the mix needs some better EQing - it's very midrangey and lacks punch in the bass and clarity/presence/air in the highs. It sounds like maybe your mixing/listening environment is less than ideal. A few solutions:

- treat your room (expensive and, depending on your living situation, maybe not an option?)

- use reference tracks (i.e., add a commercial song that is similar in tone/style to the one you're creating and listen/compare it frequently to match the sound of your track while you're EQing/mixing)

- check out Har-Bal. It lets you see the overall frequency response of your master track, make global changes to it, and even compare/match it up with commercial tracks.

HTH and keep up the good work. Once you get the mix cleaned up, I don't see any reason why this wouldn't get signed.

very good,

your very modest, this is well produced and easely sighnable. i like the vocals, thay have a darkish twist to them, it remieds me of a tune i have herd before though. the one with the lirics "piece by peice" and so on, cant remember the name of it. it ticks all the boxes well done 10/10. it nice to get some fresh sounds on here. chaw 4 now.

Thank you all for the positive feedback. Its very encouraging to read.

I went back and try to apply some of the things you recommended.

- EQ on vocals: opened up a little of 10Khz for air
- EQ on pads: opened up about 4 dbs at 12Khz for air
- EQ on mix: +2dbs at 80Hz, +3db at 7Khz, +2db at 12khz - overall a smiley curve / loudness type curve.

I also looked at some synths that worked in the midrange and scaled those back alittle for more breathing room.

I think the mix sounds a little more open now with less emphasis on the mid range:

Anyone else have good experience with hal-bar? Sound on sound gave it a good review and it is inexpensive at $95...

this is really, really good. i agree that it is too midrangey, the bass & the highs get lost in there but you can still tell that this is a killer track. awesome job, would definitely buy this if it were signed! good luck!

Gabriel Cazali, ENZ83 and Josh Rising: thank you so much for your feedback; its very motivational to get +ve feedback and it makes me feel that my efforts are paying back

Does anyone know any labels that would be interested in this sound? Is there a list of labels that you guys pitch to when you are finished with a track?

Cheers

Excellent tune, 2 things that make this track stand out from the rest:

1. The Eastern/Asia atmosphere (chords/melody)
2. The out of this world Vocals.

Combined top notch.
2 tips:

1. send you track to some mastering studio's for feedback and consideration
2. Choose your label wisely. I would think this would fit either Armada or AnjunaBeats for starters.....
