I do use it, as it's the sole sound generator in Logic that lets me use fm synthesis for drums, such as kicks, snares, claps, hats, with the right pitch envelope.
ES2 is not too bad, but has only 3 unprecise envelopes and fm is quite limited in use, plus you cannot set the Pitch to a fixed value for an oscillator.
The secret of electronic drums is a pitch amplitude that goes beyond +-36 semitones, as the sound generator lets you reach those amplitudes, there is theoretically no single limit in terms of sound design.
Unfortunately, presets don't reflect this feature for ultrabeat. All you hear is a bunch of dynamic-less bits while you can make the most powerful dance drums when relying on this kind of synths.
I got to use those fm techniques in ableton live with operator. This is only a few weeks ago that I realised how powerful Ultrabeat could be.
