you will need headphones, speakers, and music no matter what. if you want to use your computer then get a midi controller and mixing software. if you want to use cds and/or vinyl then get cd players/turntables and a mixer. as far as cost, computer is the cheapest assuming you already have a computer that can handle the software. vinyl is the most expensive.

i went with a combination of vinyl + computer software. but that's only because i love vinyl.
