is this any good?

hey

so i am finally moving from software to hardware and i need something cheap for the beginning.

i saw this:
http://www.vemil.hr/opis.aspx?prika...0&Sifra=1710056

can you tell me if its good for its price(around 120$) and is it even worth buying something so cheap, if t is, is what is the best in the price range of 150$, or i should save more(remember that i dont need something mind blowing, but the quality must be... well listenable)

danke schon!

- Smek.

im assuming your looking for a real dj mixer?

well thats just a midi controller...not an actual dj mixer.

take a look at the denon dn-x120 i think it is...really small, pretty cheap as far as i know as well. ive always liked denon mixers...its no pioneer or allen & heath, but they get the job done very well. good sound quality also

Dude, what is it that you want exactly? This is only a midi controller, meaning that it is used to control your mixing software instead of using a mouse and keyboard. Like a sophisticated Nintendo controller, if you wish. No sound goes in or out of it.

If you're willing to spend a little more cash, then I recommend the Vestax VCI-100. This is THE midi controller. Used ones usually go for $350 on eBay while a new one is $500. I recently got a new one of those for $350 at a local store, it was on sale...Money well spent

right... so its some sort of pimped out keyboard

soon i am getting some cash that could cover the expenses of that one, but saving money for the DJM 400 woul take me a while...

whats your advice?

should i buy this one to do some practice on my pc and save money a bit longer or i should just save my cash and buy a pioneer sooner?

thanks,

- Smek.

Well...it depends on what you want to do.

The Pioneer mixer is exactly that: a mixer. This is made to use with a pair of decks or turntables, which I'm assuming you don't have. So, that means you will have to get the mixer, plus a pair of decks. That, of course means even more money.

From what I've been able to understand, what you actually want is to be able to use an external mixer with your computer. In that case, I recommend that you get yourself a midi controller but definitely not the M-Audio that you posted. I'd say save up the cash and get the Vestax I recommended.

Here's a couple of videos to help you understand better what the Vestax VCI-100 actually does.

Save up for real equip. I think your doing yourself a disservice if you have software automatically beatmatch for you. I was taught basics with serato and now i only use CDs with my CDJs now. Sadly any kind of hardware for djing is going to be costly.

My friend picked up some stanton str80 and sk six mixer for $150 on craigs and im sure youll have the same luck. Sure the tables are terrible but if youve never played on technics or the like then you probably wont know the difference. Pick up like a few vinyls for $1 and practice with your ear. If you want get serato ($450) and use the waveforms to beatmatch. Take a look on the used market, most equip will last awhile and vinyl goes mad deals on craigs.

get a VCI 100 and use traktor with it but don't use the sync feature which is cheating. Cheapest way you can learn the real way of DJing.

Cheating?

People, beatmatching is like 10% of DJing...

Agreed, but it is perceived as one of the most difficult tasks from an outsiders point of view.

And remember when you first started, it wasn't that easy..

Then again you're not really saying it's difficult just that there's more to dj'ing so my points aren't quite relevant anymore now are they haha..

Knowing how to beatmatch is great, it allows you to rock up to an old school (non-digital) setup and put a set together. Going completely digitial, using the sync option in Traktor etc frees you up to try a load of different things, so there are negative points but then again there are positives.

I'm seeing more and more dj's switch to a fully digital setup. These guys don't need to prove they can beatmatch any more, they're basically beyond/bored of it at this stage and just want to do more without having to worry about whether the songs are in time or not.

... i'm waffling.

ive actually found a store where DN-X120 is avaliable, i wasnt expexting it to be so cheap, i'm defenatly getting it

beatmatching like everything else can be learned, so its not a problem.

now, i need you to recommend me some cheap turntables( non-vinyl, because i have a huge collection of music and no vinyls at all)

total price (of the entire setup) shouldnt be higher then 1000$(cheaper the better)

thanks,

- Smek.

If you're willing to spend that much money then I think you can get a pair of Pioneer CDJ-800's and a decent mixer for roughly that price (probably a bit more).

Look at this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pioneer-CDJ-8...parms=72%3A1300|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Roughly $400
