This is an idea for a mix that I came up with a few weeks ago. I wanted to create a mix that contained dance elements, but I also wanted to someone use some of the modern classical / minimalist compositions that I have been listening to. As you can imagine, the mixing wasn't fantastic, as it was a bit difficult to go from techno to a light piano or string.

I know many of you have heard the dance tunes before, but they were tunes that I have really enjoyed over the last few months and I wanted to use them. Hopefully I can at least introduce some of you to some non-dance music that you find enjoyable. Thanks to Rob for introducing me to Blow It and I Can Forget.

Of course! To paraphrase the perennial montana quote, finding good music and sharing it with people is just what I like to do.

Also... Jaidene Veda

You know, I thought I was leaving out one track, and Sunday was the tune.

huge file size is huge.

would be interested to hear how you reconcile the ironic dancefloor music with serious ambient music - was your intention ironic?

though some of the producers there (like efdemin) have a classical background. efdemin studied electroacoustics in university

interestingly enough i just recorded a concept mix two days ago for my proton radio show which contains a lot of modern classical and ambient bits

sad nefardec is sad.

My intention was to put together dance tunes that I really like with more ambient music. Nothing more. I'm not trying to make a statement. If you want me to make a statement it will be about how to design a database, or Service Oriented Architecture, or proposals for IT to adopt a green initiative to raise their bottom line. You are a hell of a lot more educated in music than I am nefardec, and you put together some really good mixes too I might add. As do others that have posted in this thread.

I did know that tidbit about Efdemin. I watched his Red Bull interview and found it really interesting. And really awkward.

I just hope you find a few tunes that you hadn't heard before, and really enjoy.

you know you could, though, right? you don't have to go to school to be expressive I don't know what it is about this aversion people seem to have in dance music with making statements or being 'too serious'. anyways i was just curious. i don't know many of the tracks so i will listen when i can get to a faster connection.

efdemin is a strange cat

I agree that statements can be made in dance music. I fully agree. I also don't think that I'm being 'too serious' (not that you are saying I am, just raising attention to the point) as I wanted to do something a little different from what I had done before.

This mix is a result of influences. Influences from my own music discovery, and influences from people like you, Clovis, Rob, Adam, and the list goes on. I'm a lurker, I listen to a lot of music that gets posted in the DJ Promotion section.

As strange as Efdemin's interview was, I really enjoyed it. He makes a lot of great music, and has a lot of interesting things to say.

Looks like it's up my alley, especially the modern classical (even if I'm incredibly familiar with the modern classical tracks that are on this ).
