Maybe it's just me, but I've never really understood the point of having an alias. Isn't the goal to get your name out there more? It seems like an alias just divides your fans and confuses people. I don't think Joe 6 pack knows that Cirez D / Pryda / and Eric Prydz are all the same dude (as if Joe 6 Pack knows Eric Prydz at all but...). Is it just me?
I think they use the different alias to alert people that it will have a different sound.
And this album will be amazing, so far all the tracks I have heard have been pretty epic

there are also alias' for different labels as some labels prefer one name for releases.
ie.. Statica - Coldharbour & Mike Foyle.. Armada..
and thats why you see the so and so presents .........
- politics

Hijacked! :P
A lot of record contracts have a clause that says that you can only release under your name on that label and that label only. If you release elsewhere, you need to use an alias. If not, your contract's void.
Also, a lot of artists use an alias as a way to say "well, it's not my usual sound, but..."... Which is what I'm doing next in one of my next month's releases

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

Well personally for me something that started out as an alias became my "sound". Its a really weird feeling to have no one know who the hell you are by the name you want to be known by haha.
What actually happened was i did a track for a friends radio show as a filler and more people loved the style so i just stuck with it, and now i started to get remix requests and have my first non bullshit release of an original track coming out in the summer.
yeah sorry got sidetracked, but if anyone cares in a week or so im going to post about 4 tracks on here, ones that i couldnt get signed or just i didnt want anyone but me to have

That makes a lot of sense actually... good point!
I guess I can understand it for a different sound, but I still don't think I'd do it unless I was in a label / legal situation where it made sense (like Stef said I think it's a tricky road to go down). Either way I'm sure the Dakota album will kick ass!
Now for my next mystery: who can tell me why Japanese CD's always seem to get all the bonus tracks :P
