with all those plane crashes lately, I've come down with the pryda-syndrome, finding it safer to drive across a continent with crazy american drivers at high speeds in high times
but fwug dat, I need to go to canada this summer. anyone know of some hot deals, or better ways to travel these days?

Definitely. There is a reason the travel industry is in the shitter. Poor economy, lame airport regulations, layovers, weather issues... the list goes on and on.
