This is the english version:
Ravemontreal.com is closing. Yes, this is the end of a great adventure and a hard choice to let my baby go.
In August, we will celebrate Ravemontreal's 10 year anniversary and the end of an era.
RM was more than a project, a hobby, or a web site. It was my passion, people, friendships, countless unforgettable nights and a community all gathered under the love of electronic music. I think it's fair to say that it touched people's lives, made a difference, and will be remembered. It gave me the most wonderful years of my life.
Although the site is still doing well, there's no doubt that the star has been fading. The number of visitors would still make some sites jealous, but forum activity went down and the site has become a shadow of it's former self. A big part of it is that I simply don't have the energy or the interest in keeping it up to date anymore and haven't been able to put effort into seeking out a new generations of users.
I love Ravemontreal with all my heart. I have put in so many hours and have made such an effort that I simply don't want to witness a sad, slow and painful death. I think this is the right time to call it off, so that we can remember it for what it was.
I am very proud of everything we did together and it was a privilege to share all these moments with you.
I could go on for hours talking about the site, the parties.... But you already know that. You were there. And it was fantastic.
So does it mean I don't believe in the movement anymore? Not at all. In fact, I think Montreal's EDM scene has not been this healthy in years. I see it every time I play and I am very excited and inspired by this new energy. Gladly, a whole new generation of young people are now interested in the movement, again. We have a lot of awesome local talent, quality events, great international bookings and the music is alive and kicking. A lot of other web sites are doing well (Rave.ca, Tranceaddict, Tubbies. Noctambules...) and I wish them the best of luck. I was never a competitor, rather than a member of a big team, promoting what we love. I hope they feel the same about me.
So does it mean this is the end of Creator? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Let me be very clear about that. I will not stop my Djing activities. I have never been so passionate about DJing, I am at my best musical shape and never been so happy to play. I have no intention on stopping anytime soon. My Black Out night is going
strong at Circus, it's an honor for me to open for James Holden at
Piknic Electronik and when I return from L.A I will accept more offers and play more.
What will happen when you type www.ravemontreal.com? You will see in
August.
It can't end like that, right? Of course not. That's why you will soon have information on the official Ravemontreal Closing Party. Hopefully, everyone will gather for one last hug- a huge gathering to celebrate this great 10 year run. I really hope you can all make it. I never asked a lot from the users, but one thing would make me really happy and that would be to give Ravemontreal the proper farewell it deserves.
