Setting the agenda. Shocking.

Anybody catch this exchange? Would Obama sound so eloquent and awesome-y if he had to answer a question on the fly? Oh yeah, we've seen what that looks like before. It's kind of like when the curtain was pulled back to reveal the Wizard of Oz. How easy it is to make the public believe that the whole population is in favor of something if you carefully control the agenda and information to make it appear that way.

yeah, good one. thanks for posting.

In fairness, though, Bush didn't even give press conferences at all, whereas Obama's already done a ton of them. Obama is a whole lot more transparent and open than Bush even if it's true that one question was planted.

Yikes, he looked about a comfortable as one sitting on a hot potatoe.
Indeed, if you're going to construct your own Q&A so you know all the answers (before-hand) that hardly sounds like a, "Town Hall" to me...

Is it really transparency if it's a complete charade? Seems like we're just being subjected to a bunch of not-so-sophisticated acting. No more comparisons to Bush. John Stewart had a surprisingly good piece on recently as well asking what happened to all of this supposed transparency we were promised.

Couple of minutes in:

Yeah this is pretty terrible and that was hard to watch. They certainly haven't been living up to the rhetoric. I have family that lives not far from where they were having the "town hall" but I guess they wouldn't have been able to get in.

To Shakka's point, it's all staged, just like the town hall meeting yesterday. Haha... the Washington Post even jokes about, well, what a staged joke it was:

quote:
The president called randomly on three audience members. All turned out to be members of groups with close ties to his administration: the Service Employees International Union, Health Care for America Now, and Organizing for America, which is a part of the Democratic National Committee. White House officials said that was a coincidence.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...ss=rss_politics

LOL! Some "coincidence"... and some transparency.

And how about blocking the White House visitor list? Transparency?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3137340...cs-white_house/

What about NOT posting the climate bill on line for 5 days for the public to review, as promised. Transparency?

From Vanity Fair last month, which is a lefty publication (pay attention Lebez... even THEY admit it):

quote:
They have been handed a most remarkable historical moment— in which they get to remake the media in their own image. They have the power and they are the subject. These people in this White House are in greater control of the media than any administration before them.

And check out this article by Newsweek from last week titled "Obama Closes the Door to Openness"---> http://www.newsweek.com/id/202875

What will it take for people to stop believing in the illusion?

Well Alex, all I can say is that some people (hint hint) hate when they are presented with information that contradicts the rosey fantasy politicians lead them to believe... it challenges the comfortable cocoon they live in. It's easier to lash out than accept that you have been bamboozled.

Thank you for that wonderful contribution to the discussion.

Did you have anything to add, or did you just want to let it be known that Obama's left nut is being cradled, ever so gently, in your hands, and his right nut is halfway down your throat?
