Heard nothing but great great things about Finger Lakes. Totally regret not checking it out while I went to school up in Rochester.

damns i definitely want to visit the area someday...i hear soo many great things and updates from u whenever you go back home <3

wish i knew more about it when I was going to college in Buffalo, it would have been so easy to get there

Guys i cant believe you lived up in that direction and never went!!


@ the wine tours, you literally pay a $1 or $2 for 8-15 tastings!! Pay $30 each for a limo and you have yourself a day! (and sometimes a bad night!! lol holy hangover!!)

all the wineries go right along the lake roads with incredible views, and there is boating, sailing, etc......plenty of bigger towns like Ithaca, Syracuse or Rochester nearby to keep ya entertained


tons o restaurants and bars right on the lakes....one of our fav things to do is to take the boat out and dock at wineries or bars for a drink

I'm an idiot....I actually did make it up there once during senior week a couple days b4 graduation. It was for the wine tour. We went to 3 wineries in the Seneca Lake area. What a shitshow!! Drinking on the bus on the way up there...drinking all that wine during the tours..and then drinking some more by the lake while some of us jumped in.

bwahaha! omg I have SOO been there before!! last year I got HAMMERED on a wine tour...me and my friends came back and were jumping off the floating trampoline, practically killing ourselves because we couldnt see straight.


advice to newb wine-tour-goers: wine will hit you like a ROCK when drinking that quickly (they give you about a 1/4 glass, but you have 8-15 tasting at each winery in about 30 minutes. times that times 8-10 wineries and you will be on the floor!!)

We have been up there and really love it! We always go to the lower part, like Warwick Winery for wine tasting and apple picking, we find all the close wineries on the way there or back(like Brotherhood). I don't know if New Paltz counts too but there are wineries close by. My husband loves Iron Forge Inn, near Warwick, he is a foodie type. I forgot where we stayed last time but it had a small lake. We drove around some of the big lakes after and ended up with a bunch of Harley guys.

are you sure you were int he right place? new paltz is no where near the finger lakes?

as for swimming: at Robert Treman State park, you can actually jump OFF the falls, and there is fresh water coves to swim under the smaller falls.....very cool and super gorgeous and refreshing <3 the water is like sooo clean and crystal clear.

Those pics are amazing, really. So which can we swim in without being killed? They all look massive except for the one that you are walking.

Warwick and New Paltz have been at different times. I thought New Paltz was part of it too because some wineries close by are on a Finger Lakes winery site. I guess not but it was pretty. Warwick is part of it, right?

like I said, robert treman state park. You can climb the falls (about 40 feet high but you can only go half up before the life guard tells you to jump!) very pretty!


I have heard of warwick, but not sure where its located. Finger Lakes are all located between Syracuse and Rochester areas. New paltz is pretty far: about 3 hours from me (or more since there is no direct road there: you kinda have to go up to the Thruway and down).


I grew up between Ithaca and Rochester, which was nice because I was on the largest lake with the biggest waterfalls....but also had the option of driving into the cities to be entertained and only an hour ferry ride away from Toronto!
