i never post, especially not in hate threads, but this ones more than deserved (and not because not hearing ATB play is a loss to humankind)
PVD totally lost it. he may have been crappy/average for the past five (or ten?) years, but this year's performance at Nature One really took the cake.
I never wanted to see him in the first place, but a friend dragged me there because PVD was one of the few djs in the lineup he knew.
anyway, I witnessed one of the most cringe-worthy performances ever. it was just embarassing. if he had just played a regular and boring set like most other djs i wouldnt have cared, but he pulled some stunts that turned my indifference into sheer anger.
- usually the beats / breakdown ratio should not be under 2:1 (even with "djs" of the jesus category). but with pvd it was more like 1:4 - a short interval with drums followed by minutes of breakdown, mixed into the next breakdown.
when the drums finally came it was always sounding exactly the same. i dont know how he did that - i guess i witnessed his magic real-time editing skills which managed to squeeze his trademark bassdrum into every track he played.
- i'm not even bothering with the fact that he played the some fucking old tunes he always plays
- 10 minutes before the end of his set this singer came on the stage and mangled two songs which are not pretty to listen to in the first place, time of our lives and home, which features by far the most stupid chorus i have ever heard - "my hooome...my hoome", and thats it.
it was like top of the pop, only less catchy.
he topped that all up nicely with seven nation army at the end, maybe the most overplayed melody/bassline of the last five years.
sorry for the rant, but i had to vent it somehow. the friend i was there with thought it was "not so bad".
