A journalist in today's Adelaide Advertiser, the largest paper in South Australia, wrote a column rating the top 50 albums of 2000-2009.

The list covers all genres.

He rated Daft Punk - Discovery as the best album of this time.

Agree? Disagree?

I think it mightbe a bit of a stretch to claim its the best of any album.

What gets me is EDM gets shit all mention anytime in the paper, and then he pops up with this.

And Lady Gaga at number 10?

Essential track: Rehab 9 BLOC PARTY - Silent Alarm An important album that utilised dance floor percussion with indie rock sensibilities. Essential track: Paparazzi 11 ARCTIC MONKEYS - Whatever People Say I am That's What I'm Not Frontman Alex Turner's frustrated late night tales connected to the youth of the world. Essential track: I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor 12 INTERPOL - Turn Onthe Bright Lights A dark debut from the well dressed New Yorkers combined the art rock of Television with the sombre mood of Joy Divison. Essential track: Say Hello to the Angels 13 EMINEM - The Marshall Mathers LP The biggest selling act of the decade's third album was his most focused and above all, serious, which in turn was taken that way by critics. Essential track: Stan 14 THE FLAMING LIPS - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Psychedelic dreamers The Flaming Lips saved their best effort for album No.10 in 2002 with a shimmering pop record filled with romantic gloom. Essential track: Seven Nation Army 17 THE KILLERS -Sam's Town The Vegas boys hit the desert, with a nod to great Americana songwriting. Essential track: When you were young 18 THE STROKES - Is This It The band's lo-fipop rock sound reinvigorated the genre for many as one of the decade's most influential indie acts. Essential track: Last Nite 19 THE HOLD STEADY - Boys and Girls in America Traditional bar rock circa Born to Run with the fantastic imagery of Jack Kerouac. Essential track: Chips Ahoy 20 AVALANCHES - Since I Left You A beautiful collage of genre hopping madness. Essential track: Since I Left You 21 MYLO - Destroy Rock N' Roll He was the great white hope of the decade - who then disappeared much quicker than expected. Essential track: In My Arms 22 RADIOHEAD - In Rainbows An album that revolutionised the face of music. Essential track: All I Need 23 TV ON THE RADIO - Return to Cookie Mountain Return to Cookie Mountain pushed the band's experimental rock to its limits even enlisting the Godfather of cool David Bowie to lend a hand. Essential track: Wolf Like Me 24 JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE - FutureSex/LoveSounds Timberlake proved there were no strings attached to the paint by numbers pop of N'Sync. Essential track: SexyBack 25 MUSE - Black Holes and Revelations This was the start of their rise to mainstream fame which this year has shot passed the moon. All killer - no filler. Essential track: Knights of Cydonia 26 JOHNNY CASH - American IV: The Man Comes Around The only album consisting mostly of covers you will find in a "best of" list. Essential track: Hurt 27 ALICIA KEYS - Songs in A Minor She's still one of the best voices in the crowded genre. Essential track: Fallin 28 BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - The Rising Rumour is The Boss was walking along a beach reflecting upon the September 11 attacks when a fan pleaded "We need you". This was his response. Essential Track: The Rising 29 PHOENIX - It's Never Been Like That The French troubadours' third effort showed they could turn up the guitars and hold their own against the best. Essential track: Long Distance Call 30 ROBERT PLANT AND ALISON KRAUSS - Raising Sand Plant sounds as youthful as he did in his Led Zep days while Krauss brings an element of sultriness as the rock god's muse. Essential track: Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On) 31 WILCO - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot One of alternative rock's finest, 2002's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is stil the band at its most prolific. Essential track: War on War 32 GREEN DAY - American Idiot It took the bumbling leadership of George Bush to convince Green Day to produce its career defining album. Essential track: American Idiot 33 HILLTOP HOODS - The Calling The best hip hop act in Australia, this was the album that converted the non-believers. Essential track: The Nosebleed Section 34 PJ HARVEY - Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea Harvey started the decade with her careerbest album, which found the singer at her most focused. Essential track: This Mess We're In 35 MY MORNING JACKET - Z One of the best live bands in the world still sound pretty darn good on record, particularly on Z. Essential track: Wordless Chorus 36 LINKIN PARK - Hybrid Theory Love them or hate them, Linkin Park rose from the dying genre of nu-metal. Essential track: In the End 37 THE KILLERS - Hot Fuss Brandon Flowers' honest vocals backed by the powerful rhythm on Hot Fuss was hard to ignore. Essential track: Mr Brightside 38 YEAH YEAH YEAHS - Fever to Tell A powerhouse debut that delivered Karen O's commanding voice to the world. Essential track: Maps 39 POWDERFINGER - Odyssey Number Five This is the Brisbane lads at the absolute peak of their songwriting.
