Exclamation Chicane tired of trance music?

Hey!

I found this quote from Chicane:

I've started to move away from dance and write songs and become more of an artist. I'm not comfortable being lumped in with trance. I've stopped wanting to play clubs and want to play gigs, get closer to the crowd and play deeper stuff. Being thought of as a dance artist or a DJ is demeaning"

Im deeply shocked if this is true!

I don't think "The Drive Home" is really that much different than his earlier stuff on "Far From the Maddening Crowds"...Chicane has always been more to the Chill-Out end of things than straight trance (with the notable exception of the Disco Citizens and Tomski reworks of his tracks...) which is fine with me.

I guess I don't understand how he could consider it "demeaning" to be lumped in with the dance music culture...I thought Chicane always got more than his fair share of recognition for being an original and unique artist.

All that said whatever he decides to produce I'll listen to, but it's a shame that he's not planning on doing more dance oriented productions
