Allergies

Who here has bad allergies to ragweed? dust?

I am so bad every year at this time... usually the end of August and all of September.

I have tried everything over the counter...sudafed...reactine...allegra...oil of oregano...vicks...aerius... NOTHING works!

Does anyone know of anything that actually works other than allergy shots since its too late for that now. My eyes are fine but I cant breath through my nose. So frustrating when I eat or sleep

My allergies are bad too. Aerius-D and Allegra-D usually do the trick, but not always. Mine are usually the worst during spring time.

Have you tried Avamys or Nazonex? It's a steroid nose spray, but you would have to get a prescription for it. They do really work.

Sorry, this sucks.

Make sure that the air is clean in your apartment/house. Very often A/Cs and heaters can worsen the symptoms, so maybe it's time for a filter change. And, make sure to keep your windows open a few times a week. Also, having a humidifier helps. Good luck.

My allergies were HORRIBLE 2 weeks ago. They are getting better as the weather cools and with the rain.
2-3 weeks ago was sneeze fest
last 2 weeks have been mainly itchy eyes....to the point i want to yank my eyeballs. Eye drops help alot

I've been popping allergy pills like there's no tomorrow.

Aerius doesnt work for me
claritin, same
Benadryl ones.....make me super loopy

The ones i found the best right now are from rexal. its their own brand, yellow box. 50pills for 13$ or so

I also use a netty pot (now the squirt bottle) when my nose is really runny. Its not effective when you're too clogged up to make the water pass.
When my nose is clogged up, i use the nasal sprays. It clears a little....then I attempt the netty pot

Keeping the windows closed is a must.

once the season is over, i need to get checked and look at those vaccine/immunization.

My allergies kick it at the beginning of the summer. God it's been the worst summer for allergies since I can remember tbh! I found the only thing that worked for me is the Claritin 24hr extra strength non-drowsy horse tranquilizer pills! Saved my summer!

Sudafed won't do any good as it's just a decongestant, not an anti-histamine. The rest you listed were the non-drowsy antihistamines and holistic and nose crap that doesn't work.

The thing with non-drowsy anti-histamines, they don't work for everyone, and you've done what you were supposed to do: trial and error until you find one that works.

What will work each and every time is the regular anti-histamines like Benadryl, Chlor-Tripolon, etc. Yeah they make you yawn like a mule and make two beers feel like you drank five, but at least they work.

For me NONE of the non-drowsy ones work as well as Benadryl does, but Reactine works at about 50% (of a drowsy) for me, but at least they work all day. It's a trade-off.

All GREAT suggestions, especially the humidifier.

I'm taking a Claritin a day and it's helping, but it gums me up when I try to sleep. I end up snoring and keeping my girlfriend up all night, definitely not the most attractive (or helpful) thing in the world.
