How many of you can honestly say that you listen to trance just for the music .It seems to me that to many people will tend follow the rest of the pack Because of a certain type is IN, they will listen to this up and to the point it losses popularity then the will move on to the next thing so they wont feel left out. Iam sure you no people like this. Opinions please

I don't think so, I listen to the music that I like, wether it's new or not. I don't go with the flow, but in a way you are right, I mean, when there's a new dj that is great I tend to listen to him untill I don't like him anymore or untill I find another good one.

i'll listen to music i like.. and i can say that i don't like to follow the crowd.. hehe coz the crowd are usually shite =p..
i think people who are new to trance, or haven't listened to trance for a long time will tend to do that.. but in general, no... i don't think a lot of TA's here will 'follow the trend'

same here. definitely for the music. besides, trance is not really mainstream or anythin' so most of the people i know aren't "following the crowd" and if they are, then it's usually because they want to check out the trance scene and hear some choonz for a while then they'll branch off and flourish in their own little way.

Oh, there is NO way I listen to it for an "image". The scene here is basically non-existant. I like trance & electronica as a whole because it's fast moving (meaning that new stuff is released almost every day it seems).

exactly. my theory is that you either like electronica or not. there's no real...'image' to it at all...maybe the raves and shit but not the music itself. like my friends, only a few of them can listen to both electronica and hip hop for instance...i dunno, i've just never met anybody who listens to electronica because it's 'cool'. because that's just plain retarded. lol. why listen to it if you only think it's sounds and wizzes smashed together?

I agree for sure, I've always listened to music I enjoy, or get emotional too. Music has always shaped who I am! At least I think so. I listen too soo much other then trance too (although lately trance has not left my computer, car, stereo or mixer speakers in months). I love tons and tons of music.

However just on a sidenote, I do find that because of trance I finally fit in with a niche of people. Not necessarily ravers per se, however I can identify with people who are in love with this music like I am.

Two types of people in this world, people who listen to trance, and losers. hahah Soo kidding, but how's that for a t-shirt swamper? lol

hmm..interesting thread. i guess i should start off by saying that, yes i do listen to the music for the music. most of the people on this board have been listening to trance since before it started getting commercially popular. trance just does something for us all; it stimulates our emotions, our behavior, our stature. im not sure what your reasons are for listening to trance, but it must be other than getting enjoyment out of it. im actually kind of sorry for ya. (thats my opinion, sorry if i came off as a prick)

I listen to trance because I like it. The image that ALL of my friends have of trance is that it sucks and that its for fags. I get a worse image if anything for listening to it. I've never seen any of the DJ's that you guys rave about because my friends only go to jungle parties. Oh Well.

I didnt start listening to trance because i thought is was cool. When i was young (younger then now will say) i heard som amateur trance...then i heard some more..and some more..i liked it..i heard some trance on late radio shows...
i started searching....i taped some shows and listened to them over and oever again....i searched for something i didnt know anything about....and then i found it...trance music.....Then i listened for trance music for about half a year before i found this site....now i hang here to share and learn.....Im definately into trance not only for the music but for the way of living! Its nice to listen to trance in sweden in one way cause noone else does!
In that way i feel kinda cool listening to it....and to be living by it....i wont leave it thats for sure....

damn i didnt even know trance had an image. cept here in the states and its not a very good one. i wish more people would listen to it. because it is cool. its fucking wonderful!!! and even if someone starts off listening to it cause its cool then whatever. im sure they will eventually just love it. especially if theyre hearing the same thing im hearing. all i know is when i go to a party alone its not for anything but the music
