I don't know the source of your incident. Similar thing happen to me. I had something on the stove simmering and because the flame was very low, the wind blew it out. Luckily the apt upstairs smelled it and saved the day. After that I got a timer and use when ever I'm not in the kitchen.

i think it was my wife. She must have left it on last night after cooking and we didn't notice it this morning which is wild.
unless Jason Bourne is after me and thought this was the best way to get all my windows and doors open.
