The truth about the poor quality of galaxy & other uk radio streams
Over the last couple of weeks, there have been events played by uk based radio shows and to be honest, as someone from the UK I am appalled by them, and for anyone who's wondering why theres only shitty 20kbps streams heres your reason...
The whole UK is a long way behind in broadband internet, not 1 in 20 households have ADSL or Cable connections which is a shame, as if people paid for them it could be good.
The sad thing is that I know People (luke, mikey etc) who are prepared to pay for this service but for a country like the UK who are meant to be such a first world country, not every area in the country is even able to handle the cable, not enough exchanges etc.
Coming back to the music thing, the people who run such stations probably don't realise that some of us can take such good streams (upto 128kbps wouldn't be too much to ask would it, even 64kbps) so appologies from me & everyone who lives in a country who spend too much on useless things like a dome and stuff thats shite, and not enough on technological advances that could bring us all decent qualities of listening online
So come on to anyone in the UK, sort it out now
Rant over

i can't be arsed to say much coz im fukked, but i agree 100%
Same problem here in Oz .. main phone company doesn't want to lower prices for broadband, instead tries to push people onto useless 1 gig capped connections etc.
And then they can't figure out why nobody wants their shitty broadband....really gets me angry

Our exchange was only upgraded to ADSL a month ago. I wanted ADSL over two years ago ffs! Well I'm alright now but most of the country isn't Its bout time they sorted it out and actually did something right to this country to help people, instead of splashing out millions of pounds for pointless projects like the dome and all that shit!

It's weird cause it seems that in Canada has broadband. There is so much competition between companies here and its relatively cheap and easy to get pretty anywhere. I know for a fact we are even ahead of the United States broadband wise. I don't understand why other countires dont get hooked up with high speed internet. And I am pretty sure that Canada is the only country in the world that has plans for a cross country broadband network so everyone can have affordable high speed internet.

2 in 5 canadians have high speed internet, so 40% of a country of 33 million ppl have it. By 2008, the cdn gov't hopes to have 90% of the population on high speed.

the sad fact as ppl like Coup & Ste pointed out is that the government would rather spend money on treating illegal immigrants whilst ppl who pay their taxes get jackshit for their money but paying for a bunch of old bastards to moan @ each other everyday in parliament, it dont matter who u vote for, ur always screwed, and they dont make the speed available.
When i bought my adsl 16 months ago, the bt ppl tried to talk me into an isdn line, and they wanted to charge me more for that with line rental & dialup access than give me the 4 times more speed adsl brings me, it sucks that when u know what they want they argue, they really need to get priorities right
