"The biggest thing to happen for me this year is my change in style. I play more eclectic, much more house-driven, and like, indie pop music. The whole trance part is deleted from my set now. It is completely gone. It was a revolutionary thing for me."
"I just didn't like the old trancey sounds anymore," he continues. "It just all started to sound the same to me. Already in Ibiza last year, I had started to play like that, and I saw that the people were up for everything, and it felt great. I'm still learning, experimenting with where to drop which tracks. But everyone's very supportive."

interpretation: I noticed I was falling off. so I decided to go with the mainstream.
This is a good move, now the new talent can shine.

I will quote my friend who just got the bad news from Tiesto's comment(fan for years, back when he was known as dj unlimited),
"Thats why man, its all the mainstream bro, its the artists makings the songs for rap stars and whoring themselves for MTV."
Sadly, he is correct. Can we blame them, nah.. but it won't make his music any better. Its like a hot ass girl who finally peaks out in her 30's. My assumption, he can't ever be as good as when he played trance.(I have too much time on my hands)

Funny, I'm over Tiesto and mostly into Trance & Progressive now...to each their own!

The ONE thing I like about Tiesto's new sound is that he uses indie rock artists, but that's not enough.
One of these days a DJ is going to come along that plays old-school, classic trance and all the newbie Deadmau5 and Guetta fans are going to eat it up because they've never heard it before. I just hope it happens while I'm still young so I don't have to be the old creeper in the club. :P

For me it was "Children" by Robert Miles in 1996. I was in 7th grade I think.
Then again, when I was a little kid I loved Ace of Base, so I think I was just destined to love dance music. :P
