Going through my house folders I've noticed that I've got a lot of weird stuff, deep stuff, mellow stuff but not a lot of stuff that's really just raw groove. I dig most of the tracks he plays in this video, music starts around 12 minutes. Or maybe it just sounds good because of the context of the video? I don't know. This was recorded in 2008, by the way, so at the height of tech house I guess.

Jay and I talked about this before. How I see it Ricardo plays house and many forms of it, but he never gets booked to play HOUSE house because the house he plays just isn't very...housey(?)...in the classic sense, I guess.
I wasn't really trying to talk about him as a DJ, in general, just about the type of stuff in the video. I was looking for some pointers since I completely missed this whole 2000's tech/minimal thing.
I don't know, man. What was he playing back then? I can't id any tracks on the video off the top of my head, but I would guess stuff like this maybe?
Not too long after this?
What I said pertains to him just as much now as it did back then. A lot of it just isn't "house". You didn't listen to this shit back when it came out?
Nah, the stuff you posted isn't really what I'm after. What sucks is, there used to be the same video with all the IDs in the comments but it got taken down a while ago.
Maybe you should buy a lot of random tech house from 2008, go down to your local supermarket and buy the shittiest €20 radio CD player you can find and then play your tracks through that. Because that's all I'm getting from that video.
