Re: Sound Dishonors Guest List

Anyone else go to Chus & Ceballos at Sound tonight for Monday Night Social? I was there well before cutoff with a print at home ticket that stated "Free before 10:30pm." Was told there are no free guestlists tonight, not even the Monday Night Social list (which was advertised on their site and is still on FB as "free before 10:30pm.")
Reason? "We have a lot of DJ's to pay tonight." So instead, only a $15 discount admission was offered. I walked away on principal, got $9 of my $10 parking back for the 10 minutes I was in the lot. Not in any rush to go back to this club.
I've been clubbing for a hell of a long time and never had this happen before when I showed proof of the guest list terms. Is this the new norm? What's the purpose of a guest list then? |
Did you try talking to someone higher up at the club? Usually the door cronies don't know jack. I've had this happen two times to me, where promoters offer one thing and then you get there and they say otherwise.
Went to Gryphon with a guest list from a promoter. Show up at the door and the guy tells me that we aren't on the list. I say bullshit, get me "promoter." He comes out and begrudgingly let me in but everyone else on the list had to pay a small cover. Asshole.
This past week after signing up for a mailing list at Space my confirmation email said that my signing up earned me a free drink. Get to the club, walk up and show my email. The guy has the guts to tell me that that pass was from the week before. I say no, this was for signing up for the FU Band contest which they just released that week. Guy disappears for 20 minutes looking for a damn drink voucher. My friend didn't even get his when he showed up.
These people will lie to get you to show up.

There was a line with a person who checks your ID. That person was telling several people around him that there was no free guestlist for the night. I showed him my Chemistry print at home ticket (a zero dollar "ticket," but it did state "free before 10:30pm" on it), and he said that it was a misprint. Then I asked about the MNS guestlist, since I had already signed up on that, and he reiterated that there was no free guestlist for the night. I didn't see anyone else around to check with, so I left. Checked FB when I got home and yup, it still showed "free b4 10:30" on the club's own RSVP list. Really disappointing, made sure that I was there before the cutoff too, but I'm not down for false advertising. Shit like this needs to be called out and corrected, or it reflects badly on them and people may stop showing up. Nobody is too big to fail these days.
I've been there more times than I can count on my hands and toes, and now I feel like I never want to go back.

Make sure to call them out as much as you can on FB. They might delete your post but I just keep at it. It's a shame when you plan to go and you drive there, pay parking, get ready, etc and get to the venue and they pull this.

My biggest argument with them was that the headliner had put me down on the guestlist and confirmed that he had done so and said he handed the names in himself, only to have them be like no..... le sryyyy....
My reply: Here I can show you the convo between me and "headliner"
Girls reply: I have no idea who that is....
My reply: You know the guy who you guys booked to play music tonight and paid alot of money to do so.
Girls reply: Yea sry no.
Thankfully I had already purchased tickets for that party and I was just trying to get some friends to come with for free and just use the tickets I bought.
