Hey cvnts

Can anyone recommend some good DnB drum samples? I'm specifically looking for acoustic drums that have been processed or layered with synthetic sounds. I don't want any loops or instrument samples. I need kicks, snares, rim shots, tom-toms and cymbals.

All the SampleMagic packs (including the linked one) have too much superfluous stuff in them, unfortunately. Same goes for LoopMasters.

Goldbaby seem to be all about synthesised drums. They don't have any acoustic or semi-acoustic packs at all.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but not really what I'm looking for. Any other options?

What about something like EZ Drummer, BFD Eco, or Addictive Drums? These all have real drum samples and some of them come with DnB grooves. You have full editing for all the drums and grooves as well.

I'll be doing all my own patterns (former drummer), so the groove side of things won't get much love. I've already got Battery and Kontakt, so I figured there's not much difference.

Might have to get off my ass and do some layering myself. Bleh.

I had the same issue when seeking snares for DnB.
Always the biggest problem I have to this day is finding BRIGHT sounding REAL snares.

Every pack I've checked has either mainly electronic snares or real snares that are flabby, wooly and not tight. What it is with drummers enjoying such flabby overly mid range sounding snares?

I recently bought a 2011 pack called jungle drummers but again virtually no useable nice bright tight snares. None of my hardware Roland drum cards has any bright enough acoustic snares.

I just upgraded to latest version of Cubase which has a lot of content, but yep, you guessed it, acoustic snares are pretty flabby and mid freq sounding.

i use addictive drums for acoustic kicks, snares, hats, cymbals, etc. i layer it with synthetic kick/snares, i'll typically use all acoustic hats/cymbals. so make your full loop in addictive drums then in addition to that loop, i will also sequence a loop of hats/rides in addictive drums, bounce it out and tinker with the audio (detune a few hits and lower the volume to simulate velocity change), then hi-pass that hat/ride loop. you want this hi-passed layer to sound somewhat "blurry" so it just adds some extra busyness, you can sidechain that hi-passed loop depending on what you're going for.

it's amazing what results you can achieve with that formula, no need for funk breaks.

with dnb it's all about layering when it comes to snares. go through your one shots until you find some snares that compliment each other well (each snare filling a different frequency band nicely). sometimes if i want a little extra brightness and can't find a snare that is filling the gap, i'll use a synth's noise oscillator (no sustain, fast decay just like a snare) and adjust the noise from brown to white, keep an eye on a spectrum analyzer or just use your ears until it's at the right frequency range. layer those noise hits with your snares and EQ it as needed to remove unwanted frequencies, let it sit quietly behind your layered snares.


also, alternate trick is to layer your snare with a crash cymbal. put reverb on the crash and lower its volume so you can't really hear that it's a crash cymbal, just so that it sits in the mix and fills up those higher frequencies enough to where it sounds nice. sidechain the crash cymbal to some ghost kicks
