Anyone else turning of the light sometimes when mixing??
I like to do it because it gives me a feeling of playing out and it`s just feel good.
I recomend people who don`t have tried it to give it ago.
Espesially if you play picotto style, but it also works with Trance.

When I have friends over...the lights are off, the strobe and blacklights are on. Now all I need are some three thousand dollar lazer scanners. :-)

yeah i spin with my lights off all the time!
i think its also practice for if ur gonna spin in a club, coz its usually dark there.. and its c00l 2 c all the lights and the shiny vinyl in the dark yeah
I do it sometimes.
I have a light for my mixer... it provides me all the light I need to see what I'm doing in the dark......

of course i do. sometimes i turn on a few blue lights. then the rooms seems to be very big. and sometimes i turn on candles. i love this yellow light when mixing..
I also do that, i turn everything off except for three normal "cosy lights"
it gives more of a trancy feeling.

i'm not a big fan of lights... so i play in the dark.
the main advantage to this is you get very well used to doing it... and when you play at a gig, chances are you are not gonna have much if any ambient light. maybe a quick whisk or a technobeam and the turntable light... so it's handy to be used to it.
one of the local DJs here once prooved light wasnt required to spin -- or eyes for that matter -- by spinning an hour set *blindfolded* .. yea, he had a helper to hand him the records, but he did everything else ! he did make a few fouls, but it was still a good set...
i'd be annoyed if I couldnt watch the people dancing to my set though :P

i do this but not really for any other reason than to chill out and listen to some quality tunes! the little popup lights look quality in the dark
*little_dave worries and quickly flicks the lights back on

I usually only spin with a couple of lava lamps on in the background. I am going to get blue rope lights around xmas time when they are in stock etc. I'll hang it behind all of my furniture etc so that I can't see the ropes and just get the ambient effect going.
Sometimes I like to spin in total darkness other than the lights on my eq and not be able to see what track I'm spinning next etc. just so I can try to improve my skills.

kinda funny.. i was back at home for fall break and i hooked my set up to my dads mcintosh amps and tannoy monitors... and also to my laptop putting geiss winamp visualizaiton [if anyone hasnt seen geiss...its definitely the best] to the tv... it was great turend off the lights and a friend came over with glowsticks so i ended up teaching him how to mix and also some new poi movies : )it was pretty fun...especially having my mom in there dancing while i mix heh!
