Commercial raves

How many of you Vancouverites have had it with commercial raves. By commercial I mean partys that are legal and have Big promotions ie. Plaza parties, River side.
It hurts to see the Dance scene in Van Die but who wants to support it when things are the way they are these days.

I want to know how many of you out there just said enough is enough of this crap and just stopped going for one reason or another.

What Id like to know is what are your reasons for leaving it behind and where do you think the Van dance scene will be in the near future ?

I only thing hurting the scene is the City of Vancouver. I don't think big promoters are a problem nor the commercial raves. You have to admit you never see a top producer/dj spinning in a illegal venue.

As for the scene in the future. I belive it will become underground again, like it was 7 or 8 years ago.

I think that your right about the underground thing. Aside from the once in a while big club show.

The promoters are not the problem for sure. But rather the over abundance of messed, over thirty, under seventeen and swaying back and forth in the circle of love people.
I say that they don't belong there but the truth is that over the past few years people like my self have been leaving and another crowd has come forth to fill our shoes. Now I am the one that doesnt belong and they are the ones that do.
What I do wonder about the promoters is this. For promoters that put on partys what are you motives. You know the sort of crowd that will come by the type of party you put together and where is held. So if your not in that crowd, which I know alot of promoters are not, why through a party unless your just in it for the money ?

the thing is, these kind of parties are everywhere, not just vancouver. every big city has its massives, and every big city has a problem with the type of people attend.

i notice in vancouver its a lot of older asian people on e. down in seattle, its a lot of older preppie/jock type guys fucked up on e (who hit on the 13 year olds who are also fucked up on e).

regardless, the problem is everywhere, and it seems a typical cycle that the newbies love that kinda thing, and the people who have been around for a year or two learn to hate it. thus the cycle continues. unfortunately, theres probably not a whole lot anyone in ANY city can do. i think its something that just has to be accepted. or, go to clubs, thats all i do heh

I've been hesistent to go to raves for some time now. Everyone and their stories of all the little girls and older people fucked on E scares me away. The only reason I will ever go to a rave is to see a big name DJ.

Ticket prices and the ferry also kill any chances of going over to Van for a rave but that's life on the rock I'd rather just see Dj's in clubs, like Tiesto at the commodore was perfect. It was people who respected the music and were mostly there to see Tiesto. Not a bunch of young punks who think getting retarded on E and going to raves is "cool" and "in".

i only been to summer love last year and that was enough for me.
in another thread it was said that avb is gonna play at twisted next april, i think im just gonna go there for armin's set and leave after. the only reason i would go to a rave
as for the dance scene in van, at the moment, i think its alright. we get lots of house and prog djs but also some nice trance once in a while, makes me happy would be great if the scene grew more popular for the music, we need more dance lovers in the city. you guys are right, its not the propoters, i think they would bring big name djs if only there was a big enough demand. they know that they can make more money bringing nelly rather than ferry. cant blame them.
and every saturday, i praise xfm for having veolocity on, attracts more ppl to the scene.
hopefully, in the future, things will get better. i'll be keeping my fingers crossed
