A Clockwork Orange

Ive just finished watching the record of when channel 4 showed it not long ago, two things:

1) why was this classed as so offensive? was channel 4's the edited version? or was it because its an old film, and sex, rape and violence scenes wernt accepted then?

2) wtf? this film appears to have no real plot, no real point, just a half assed plot with loads of randomness thrown in, i dont understand it?

everyone elses views?

it was classed so offensive because of the rapes etc like u said.

the plot, just trying to cure some guy who is a bit nuts. but in the end u see it is all pointless as when he is recovering in the hospital he sees the drawings as evil things etc

Cool

the plot was basically how the government couldn't control them then it's crap ideas to fix them. and it wasn't allowed 2 b shown on tv as long as the director lived which was until about last year lol

Of yourse it didnt make sense to you, cause u saw the fucking film!
Go read the book! The film left so many essential parts away...really ruined it. I just like the music and cinematography but plot-wise the book owns it (and btw. is one of the best books ive read)

The Film was never 'banned' in the UK, it was simply withdrawn from distrobution by Stanley Kubrick himself as he was sick of all the stupid stories in the press about copy-cat crimes - blaming his film for corrupting society.

People are under the impression that it's some cruel film that was banned and when they see it are pretty dissapointed. Infact if you look at the film for it's values it's very good - the style is very modern, the soundtrack is used in a very clever way - and the cinematography is superb

The book however is better as far as the story is concerned

soz jay but i dont see it like that at all, thought it was just a random load of bull thrown together with a limp storyline, suprised he even got funds for such a film. but thats a todays view, back in the day of creation, prolly much different.
