i would say go on legalise it, but im sure everybody knows what happens to people who drink during work, imagine them drinking and smoking @ work, especially if it just happens to be a surgeon doing your open heart surgery or summat later on in life... makes u think |

well first of all, if a surgeon is doing either, youre fucked, they dont just have to be doing both at work.
but the issue here is access and legality. dont you think that many people that turn to alcohol to 'relax' or whatever you want to call it, may in fact use MJ instead - being that there is little physical sickness or hangover afterwards and in general its easier on your organs - esp if eaten? i believe that people would drink less - and the terror people seem to find from people 'working' whilst high is almost funny too.
personally, last semester i used to smoke almost everyday. honestly - im more lazy now then i was ever back then. part of my laziness now is just the reaction to sobriety, and a lack of the ability to relax thanks to 'Yes I Can-ibus!' (sorry simpsons joke)
there is 2 sides to marijuana use, the casual user who often fears the effects of MJ cause it makes them feel 'stupid' after several hits, or the simply uneducated person - smoker or non. THC is largely non addictive, and certainly nothing like alcohol which is more addictive than caffeine, or nicotine which is more addictive than heroin. as JP said, and studies back up, you would have to smoke 40000 times the amount of pot it takes you to get high to have it kill you. drewfactor has a point, and i do agree with him.
the avid user of MJ, whom are actually MUCH more prevalent than you actually believe or want to believe see MJ differently. of course, there is a psychological craving for those analgesic and psychoactive properties, but no physical (see:CNS) addiction like cigs. so they go through ups and downs where smoking 'levels' them out...so basically you have a little smot and youre relatively sober feeling.
sure, it doesnt count as sober, and most people continue beyond the sober point - so there are issues. but on the other hand, people that smoked have performed better in driving simulations that some sober people, and those that were cited in accidents on the roadway often were under the influence of alcohol too.
thats my rant...sorry if its long. basically i think the prohibition bullshit mentality about MJ being worse for you than alc or cigs has to go...people need to be educated|
