Dunno Pitching up?

tunes or live sets. How come people do this? I always felt if the DJ wanted his tune or his sets to be that fast, he would play them that fast. Dancing at 145 rpms, in rhythm, is taxing enough, at 160 it must be nuts, if even possible without dancing half-speed. On top of that, I think pitching PvD up to 160 makes him sound like happy hardcore and pisses me off. Anyways, what're your thoughts on this?

Thanks

I agree with you. I don't really like it when a song is played too fast; it should sound natural, not nuts!

One of the reasons i love PvD so much is because of the speeds he plays his records. At Mayday where he spun Ayu - M into Dreamland!! The whole set was pitched as fuck. It was amazing, uplifting and very energetic. I hav only once ever heard PvD go a little overboard, where he spun Ralphie B - Massive (Original Mix) at what must of been +10% and it sounded a little weird. But apart from that, the faster the better I live at +6

I agree, PvD has like warped my ears i have to pitch songs up to listen to them. Winamp has a plug in that allows you to pitch stuff up, if u have Green Martian - Wizardry is a a perfect example of pitching up songs pitch it up to 7% and youll understand what im talking about.

Pitching up so much a tune like Massive is a crime. Come on, you need it to take its time to truly appreciate it.

sometimes tracks get pitched just to match the previous track.. try to fit in Veit - Sky (Magik Musik Mix) in a set that goes in a regular 140 bpm's without pitching it a lot.. but many dj's pitch some tracks just to get more energy. It depends on the way you're used to hear the tracks. Marco V - I Feel You at original speed sounds too slow compared to the speed PvD plays for an example. but still I don't like abusing on the pitch too much.

and.. Ralphie B Massive sounds great at original speed. omg 10% thats just too much

Yeah, I don't mind if a dj like PvD is spinning a fast set - in fact, my favorite sets of his, like Mayday 2000 and Live at Home in London, are fast as fuck

I just get a little bothered when people are like "YEAH, PvD LIVE AT LOVE PARADE 2002 PITCHED UP AT +12 IS THE SHIT!"

I don't mean on turntables, I mean like when people listen to already pitched up livesets and then pitch it up even more with a program on their computer. It gives me a heart attack
