Thrillseekers + Above & Beyond Review

PaSSion Pure Trance, Marc West, Thrillseekers and Above & Beyond.

Quality night, free entry to the first £500 members so i think this night cost me a fiver! haha!

westy played 9 - 10, got in at 20 past nine, late letting us in, free tho so no complaints, played standard warm up, iio at the end is about all i can remember

Thrillseekers - this guys top! just seems like ure normal joe public, jeans, shoes and a smart white t-shirt, good dj. second track was his dub of affinity, played a quality set, no mixing problems, good mixing in other bits, dropping the synth from another tune during the bassdrum-less breakdown of another, then dropping that after, sounded cool. works the crowd well, starts clap chants and interacts alot tunes included eon - pocket damage, rank1 mix of dreamland (w00t), affinity, er i could remember loads last nite, thats it! lol! Seems a sound bloke, i asked him why he called his dub of affinity a dub when he added vocals (compaired to the original), and its because it was originally a full song, which he dubbed, then the original was made and made him look silly! lol! I also asked if he is working on an album, and he said he wants to, hes got enough tracks and remixes, but no record company will take it on coz they recon the profit margine aint enough, shame He hung around for a few hrs after too chatting with the crowd and stuff.
Anyway, sound guy, plays a good set, highly recommend him

Above & Beyond - All 3 of these lads turned up, they've hammered out so much stuff, productions and remixes, under many different names (freestate / a&b / tranquility base / oceanlab / dirt devils and more), and theyre all no older than 20! lol! looked about 19! and when the second track is the flutlitch remix of talla's silence u know its gona be good anyway, their mixing slipped twice and big time once where he totally fucked it up and had to slap on another tune to get it going away, didnt go down very well, BUUUUT HOW FUCKING GOOD WAS THE SET??? blasted fast paced pure uplifting vocal trance! absolutly stunning! all 3 were having a whale of time, jumping around and working the crowd, one of the best sets ive seen, shame about the mixing in parts but club debut so ill let them off, only coz their set was so fantastic! deff go again!

All in all a sound night, with sound dj's, sound music @ a sound place, sound.

quite a good night for me. got a coach from hull at 6:30 and got there just after 9. we then qued up for about 15 minutes to get in and feck me it were cold! but to be fair i werent complaing cuz this fit girl told me that i had to keep her warm by using various different methods!

warm up set was very good. it thought it were mint cuz i heard like 5 tracks off my Battle of the Mixers V mix in his set and basically in the same order!!!! tunes such as At the End, Pitstop and Affinity were played.

thrillseekers dropped some good tunes, which paul mentioned. was loving pocket damage - it were so much better than when mario fat piu played it at crasha last time! cant really remember much from his set cuz me and one of my m8s were eyes up this gorgeous bird!!

A & B were poo IMO. sure, they played mint tunes like Rollerball but they're trackselection didnt do anything for me. they're mixing was just laughable at times. the mix paul (coup) was on about when the mix fucked up big time was into Sky Falls Down - liked that tune. oh yeah, they also dropped their mix of What it Feels like for a Girl - didnt enjoy

i thought Marc West was the best of the night. tunes like Tranceformation, Roccoco and played Damaged. good mixer as well. for me, Roccoco was definatly the tune of the night! it came on twice and i were like when i heard it!

good venue, expensive drinks, fit birds and quite far from hull. i would probably go again if there was a better line up.

finally met one of the uktas - paul aka coup. couldnt decide whether it was him of Az!

one last thing - it was faaaarrrr to smokey inside from all the smoke machines, you couldnt see you hand if u put it in front of you.

was everything I was expecting good solid trance, Thrillseekers stood out very tight mixing , few tricks good crowd interaction. A+B not quite as tight played bit bigger but defo want to catch them again was a good debut.

is thrillseekers the new AVB ?

looking forward to his april set at passion , is he booked into any other big clubs ?
