it rules out protein all together if im not mistaken, which starves the brain, and eventually you go insane cos your brain dosent work correctly.
its no joke, brains need to harvest protein!
only do this if youve got a job as a bin-man/garbage-man otherwise your brain will fail to fucntion aswell.
see a doctor about this, and they will confirm it. take care of yourself, and just do some plain old exercise.
hell im 19st, and just by jogging everywhere for 2 weeks i lost half a stone. dont eat after 8 at night and dont drink too many fizzy drinks or anything with high fat content. but dont abandon protein! |
your mistaken, it rules out carbohydrates. Instead of the 300 grams of carbs recommended by the US govt, Atkins diet starts at 20 grams and gradually works up to a level where you can maintain your weight at. Basically the US govt is saying I should be dead now, but what the hell does the US govt know; I'm alive and I never felt better.
Carbs are in all flour and sugar based products... in other words, junk food. I can eat delicious egg salads, meat, omelets, tuna fish, etc, lots of fat & protein, gives me a ridiculous amount of energy too.
When the weight is lost you start eating more carbs up to the point where you maintain your proper weight. In other words Atkins for life, it's an actual lifestyle change.
I found the book to be a very interesting read actually, and you're right about protein, that's the body's main source of sustained energy, I couldn't imagine a protein free diet. Fat is also very important for the essential amino acids. The only really good type of carbohydrate is fiber, very good for you this fiber.

Yeah adkins works because it's really carbs taht put on teh weight... |
no, unfortunately I'm one of those grossly overweight Americans everybody seems to make fun of, hehe. I started at 309 pounds, and I'm now at 284. I hope to be around 180, maybe 170.
Carbs actually induce hunger as well, so that's why people always feel hungry on low-fat diets, which is why they are prone to yo-yo dieting as it's called. I dont think I really felt hungry in a few weeks now, which is nice.
