I don't know how many times I have to say this before people understand, but when someone is dating an asshole (or a bitch), they'll do everything they can to convince themselves that the asshole/bitch is really a good person inside, with various trite remarks and delusions like "You don't see the side of him that I do" or "He's just the type that needs a lot of space".

After all, who would willingly admit that their love life is so one-sided? If they truly understood that this person was an asshole, they would dump him/her.

Everyone says they don't date the jerks. It's easy to say. The only people I'm inclined to believe are the ones who have dated VERY few people (let's say less than 5 if they're under 20, less than 10 if they're under 25, after age 25 they start to smarten up), as well as the ones who freely admit that they dated jerks in the past. Beyond that, they're just deluding themselves.

A. I don't lie, it's unattractive.
B. I've only had 2 major relationships since I was 17, one of which lasted 4 years. I don't think relationships last 4 years if the guy is an asshole OR as whipped as a 'shit tossing monkey'.

Not in my world. Sorry if you can't understand that some people have healthy balanced relationships. But I don't really blame you for thinking so. Most people are pretty screwed in that their heads are so far up their asses that attempting to join their life with someone else's gets messy. I guess I am lucky enough to be a solid, grounded individual with a clear percepetion of who I am, who just happened to find another person with the same sense of self.
