Why does Sydney Suck so much for trance??

I don't understand why....... not enough people interested is my guess.

It's such a weird thing. As Bubble Boi pointed out before the gay scene has no problems at all pulling a couple of 1000 people every month to Trance events. Ruby and Toybox are perfect examples. They sell out pretty much every time. Not just this their tickets are expensive. I believe Ruby was around $100 a ticket when the Space Brothers were playing (Bubble correct me if i'm wrong). I guess this is because of the large disposable income of the gay scene.

The straight scene is another story. People only seem to spend big bucks to go and see major internationals. The straight scene seems to be more of a big event type scene. Either that or head off to regular well known brands i.e. Sublime, Plastic, Progress, Sounds On Sunday e.t.c. Unfortunately their is no big well known regular brand for Trance. Perhaps if their was more people would be aware of Trance and realise they prefer it to the other styles.

Anyway building up a reputation and a regular night that the wider public know of will take alot of time and unfortunately a shite load of hard work.

It's true, i was at my local club/bar up the road from my house last week. they used to play trance/dance now its completly rnb, and there is definatly more chicks there!! all the local chicks go there now.. rnb is what killed trance!! even when i hear peoples music in cars, its rnb!! because as soon as the try hard people of sydney heard the try hard rappers from america singing about whatever, they were attracted to this, they all want to be as cool and tuff as fifty cent for example, and the wog chicks these days love it!! (no offence to wogs, i am one!)

my two cents,

i agree with what others have said that you need to atract new people to the seen & also get those people who will go to the big events but but not to a 'normal' night to come to a normal night

when you say a trance night most people will think of sublime and if they have been there in the past and not liked it they will most likely not go to another trance night even though the music is totaly different

i dont know how raido works but it seems that they play a select few trance songs and people love them but they never seem to add more songs to their play lists...

also the djs , clubs , producers dont have a high profile like i read something on trance.nu about ferry corsten and how his big tracks have been in the UK top 40, so in the UK most people would know of ferry but here ask some one & most people they will have never heard of him

so if you have him or any other big dj it wont bring that many new people to the event because they dont know who he is, but have him play a MOS event and you have a full house...
