My bad, I misread your post, but give me some examples on why Belgium and Germany is so awful trancewise. (And no, I'm not referring to Jan Wayne or Groove Coverage, that's not trance) And you still haven't proven why the lifestyle of the ppl on the mainland is what makes the european trance so bad.
And there's no need for name calling either, it only reduces you to the age of 14. Especially when you resort to words like nobjockey |
its only bad imo, other people like it, if everyone had the same opinion as me it wouldnt sell, but it does therefore it has an audience im just sayin that imo it sounds the same :/
and the whole lifestyle bit, mainland europe is so much more chilled that the u.k, u.k is just like america theres always a rush and people arent so happy, maybe this is reflected in the music as the synths are so emotional whereas from mainland europe the synths are much more perky and "happier" which may reflect the lifestyle as its more chilled therefore people enjoy themselves more. i mean u dont see uptight idiots starting fights over someone lookin at u in a club in holland do u? well that happens alot in the u.k. lifestyle is vvvvvv diff

I think you got it all wrong, Armin is on his way up to be #1 DJ, maybe not this year, but next for sure.
You say he plays cheese, well it's the tunes most people in the clubs around the world like, so if that's cheese fuck it just look at anywhere he goes, people know the tunes he plays because they listen to ASOT and his sets, and not because they're played on local radio.
Personally I don't like what happens to #1 DJs, they get bashed all the time, heck even now when he's #3 you start this thread I fear to think what people will write when he's #1 but it's his dream so be it.
But that's beside the point, I "don't like" AvB just because of the songs he's playing, I can't ID most, but of the experiences he brings me/us every time you see him in club in person, it's a great party and voyage into trance that's well worth the club's admission fee, it's what I so far haven't been disappointed with, and I doubt I ever will
I have to travel long ways! just to see him for that matter.
Luckily I am not one of those people who are trying to see what vinyl he's spinning, but just enjoy and dance to the music, because where I live I don't have chance to listen to it live.
You say he's signing trash tunes to his label, keep in mind he created the label to sign tracks no one else wanted to sign not because they are bad but because they don't sell well.
There's no real money in singles.
Money is in compilations and artist album.
His label and tunes he's signing and promoting on ASOT is great opportunity for new talents to make a career for themselves.
And finally, Armin himself said "trance sound" is changing, so you can't expect him to play same old tunes he played 5 years ago, they were brilliant sure, but we 'heard that' and now you gotta move on.
Just look at how many non-vocal tunes he plays during his gigs, if that's not trance I don't know what is.
I think all of you negative posting people are just too bored as guy before me wrote.
All respect to Armin and his work, whether he becomes #1 or not he's a true trance DJ and isn't ashamed to admit it in today's world when trance music is still making a break for itself around the world.

in my opinion from the 3 times that i have seen gim, once a 2 hour set, and 2 4-5 hour sets. Armin's mixing didn't continue the flow of his tracks. His mixing wasnt aggressive, basically fade in fade out, while taking the lows out...

lol the really funny thing is.....if armin experiments like tiestos done in recent years(and look at the slagings thats got him) then like tiesto most people will jump on a bandwagon and criticise him for doing that. But then theres others that feel he should do that and critisise him for not........
And to the reply about people liking a tune just because tiesto or armin makes it etc...thats true to some extent in the fact more people will listen to it and give it a chance simply because of the name. Where as less known producers/names etc ur less willing to give a listen. I dont personally do this tho i dont think love comes again is a bad record at all not my style but sounds awsome live as does traffic etc etc.
Getting back to my first bit...lol hes screwed if he does experiment cause that could loose him some fans but then again gain some. And exactly the same way round if he doesnt experiment...some people will get bored and other will like it! I think simply the only thing you can do as a dj is play wot you like....
