Great times at Cloud 9 this weekend!

So glad to see alot of you made it out throught the crazy blizzard to attend. Almost didnt make it myself. The 2 and half hour drive turned into more like 5 but we made it. So did a healthy crowd. It turned out to still be a great night, I had a great time.

For those that werent able to make it out due to the weather, Good News, I will be coming back for an "encore/makeup" date in 2 weeks on Febuary 5th. ALSO, the owner enjoyed the set and vibe so much they have offered me a monthly residency. Final details are being worked out but it looks like I will be back every first Saturday every month.

I loved the venue, and i loved the crowd. cant wait to come back!



I will be at Icey this weekend (i wont be playing, but ill be in town on business) Come up and say hi if you see me!

f*ck yeAh! woOOhOOO!! there is finally sunshine at the end of the tunnel! since i went to this combat lifesaver training over the weekend (and unfortunately missed the cloud 9 party) i got the next drill weekend off, which happens to be feb 5th. and now you say you'll be playing there on the 5th, you just made my day! cheers KT for getting your residency here in cleveland, we're happy to have you! and if you ever need an opening DJ or someone to fill a slot... look no further, i will be happy to spin. its hard to get spots at home here. when i was at college i was spinning 2-3 times a week. now in cleveland the scene is looking on the ups but everyone and their brother wants to DJ!

so is any of the ohio ta's planning on making it out for icey? and/or cloud 9 on the 5th? looks like we'll be losing jdat... any chance j you'll be going to icey? if not, happy trails bro, and i hope you make it back on this side of the pond soon!!

icey tonight... thinking about heading up in about an hour or two, anyone else plan on going? i want to check out deviant who i've heard a lot of but have never been to see yet, and i KT said he was going to try and make a cameo if he could. so... who's in?

FYI Ohio TA's .... I live in Akron and have always had to go to either cleveland, columbus or pittsburgh to see a decent show. This dilema has come to an end however as Posh (http://www.posh-niteclub.com) is starting to book some pretty good talent. They are traditionally a normal/trendy nite club but like a club I used to go to in Pittsburgh would have special nites for these events (the one in pitt I went to was Club Laga I think....saw Kimball Collins there couple years ago..) This past sunday DJ Micro spun a very nice hard trance set and there was some other local talent there as well however that could have been a little better in my opinion. My point is, if your a DJ and you want somewhere to spin COME TO AKRON! Posh is a nice club with a good feel and the elevated dance stages right in front of the booth make for a good way to get the crowd into it. Akron in general has really made a big improvement in its downtown area the past few years , if you havent been here in a while I urge you to keep track of that website and come down the next time there is a big event. It is also not so big that its way over priced or way over crowded. The cover was $10 and the crowd was large, but I didnt knock anyone out with my glo-sticks either.

We have tried getting into Akron on many occasions and the clubs are reluctant to have progressive/trance on their money nights, Friday and Saturdays. The Cleveland DJs are willing to play in Akron for sure, it's the clubs that you need to pester to get them to book those DJs more often. The club's primary interest is making money, and they will do whatever it takes to make it, even if it means having mostly Top 40 and hiphop.

Also, don't forget the number of college spots in places like Kent. Bug your bar managers and club owners for more DJs, and hopefully they'll listen. Many clubs do not host DJs as often as we would like because they perceive there is no demand for them.

Annabell's on Highland Square in Akron had a weekly on Wednesdays, but I think they focused on drum and bass most nights, with house openers for the early slots. They also host techno occasionally.

I'll ask every damn time I go! There just has to be a better way to spread the word on what's going on. Akron doesnt have a big enough scene to rely on word of mouth...next time there is an event I'll send a message to that website and we can all try to get lots of people there so they'll keep having shows!
