Now, since I dont live in NY, and I haven't been to many of the new clubs that cater to EDM in NY, my opinion may not count for much. But my experience at Crobar for S&D was not too enjoyable. Got in ok w/jeans & tshirt, so no problem there, but felt very underdressed around all the people who were there at the beginning. Got the feeling that most of the people were there to 'see & be seen'. Couldn't wait for the main room to open so I could get space from them. But it didn't last long. Got WAYYYY too packed in the main room really quickly and stayed that way. Couldnt believe the bouncers would allow the stairs up to the balcony level to be FILLED w/people. That is a serious firecode violation if I ever saw one. Absolutely clausterphobic on the dance floor to the point that I would've left (and trust me, I've had my share of clausterphobic events here in TO), had we not had wristbands to the balcony. Even there, all the seating is ONLY for bottle service types. Feet were KILLING- luckily the people w/the seats weren't using them & let me sit down. One good thing about Crobar is that it never really got hot in there, with all those people. Didn't even start to see some space clear on the main dance floor til 5am, and it was near the back, and at that point, I called it a night. I'm told it is always crowded like that. So help you all next week when PVD is there....
I wish I could've checked out all the places I've never been like Cielo & Roxy. I've been to the old Limelight (last time being Tiesto's debut, & I didn't like it then, & I spent the night in the DJ booth, I can only imagine it now), went to Webster Hall once about 10 yrs ago on a weeknight, and I went to Twilo 2ce back in the day. If some of you think that Spirit is 'too small', I gotta see what these other places look like!
