My two cents.

Vocals are good untill they make them the focal point of the track, and then the music behind it suffers, the second you put the big powerfull "fake emotive", vocals in, the music has to be so piss weak to let them throu7gh the mix, so they're musically boring, the good tracks are the ones, which have the nice rythms with the vocals, hence the reason for g and d's success.

Well I still love vocal tracks and am very proud of the great vocal stuff that Keith writes! Unbelieve is a good example, and there will be many more to come! (He didn't enter his vocal stuff on the TT CD comp)

i do agree with the sentiment that there are some DJs who are more interested in dropping the latest ch00nage than they are making the crowd go off.

look at adam white dropping rock your body. if strangelove or old man pana had dropped it during one of their sets, there'd be a thread posted up here called "POLL: BURN AT THE STAKE VS TARRED AND FEATHERED - WHICH SHOULD IT BE?"

...yet when adam white dropped it, the 60+ punters who'd been on their arse on the couches and sidelines waiting for something familiar nearly trampled each other to death to get to the dancefloor, which was completely packed out (before returning to its half-filled state once the familiar tunes petered out - sorry peter)

The reality is that the vast majority of punters don't follow along with tunes the way we do - they want a mix of familiar and new, and by familiar i mean tunes they've heard and remember. like it or lump it, a tune like 'jump the next train' or 'skydive' will stick in a punter's head much more readily than the white-labelled-acetate 12-copies-made promo-only dub version of Gunther Van Boogeren's new single Ich Bin Eine Jadedfuuketarde (due for release in mid-2007 in Luxembourg and Romania and 2009 in Bolivia on Juan Valdez Records) that you've got listed in your sig as 'top choon of the hour'. If you don't believe me, just watch the dancefloor go off the next time an international drops one of those vocal trance bombs that so many here consider to be a groaner.

hopefully this logic can also be used as my excuse for only owning 20 records, 17 of which are more than 3 years old...

ps. i was there while everyone was going off to rock your body rock. and it was sickening to say the least. if that song were a baby i would've dropped it at birth

yeah, thats all well and fine. im assuming white loves that song tho he wouldnt own it and play it otherwise.

i really have fuck all respect for punters who have to hear what they heard last time, or must hear something they know to have a good time/dance. i reckon one of the greatest things about dance events is that youre never too sure what youre gonna get. hearing faves is always great, but hearing a future fave is better imo.

and dammit begic, are we having a bad week? youve been firing shots left right & centre all week!
