binkun has produced a pretty sweet electro set that shows off a lot of what ableton can do

the thing is, is it being used to that potential by trance DJs or would they be better off leaving it for DJs who sample a lot (eg halliwell or some techno jocks) I don't see much need in the traditional trance sense for them to be on abelton, and you wonder if he actually mixed some of it before he even got there, which reeks of thumbs down

yeh mixing two tracks together, you cant do that with vinyl or cd's there is no way pvd uses ableton for anything other than this, so there is no point.

On another note, that MC prick should be shot. MC's have no place in this type of music. If I was Passion management I'd tell him to fuck off to a club playing Jungle or Happy Hardcore or something. What effects my blood pressure the most was the fact that this twat was speaking all over the breakdowns of some fairly thumping tracks.

By 'MC Prick' I assume you are referring to Andy Bagguley as thats who was doing it

I had a really good night didn't bother with O'Callaghan went and listened to whoever was playing in the Green room and had a couple of beers moved into the main room for Askew who while decent in places bored me to tears in others - as predicted though I guess thats more to do with the fact he had to warm up for PvD rather than follow on from him!!

Really enjoyed PvD's set, he even looked like he was enjoying himself as well Ok he played some fairly weak tunes but it was good to hear Krzysztof Chochlow - Release played out.
Was it just me or did he start to bring in Emjay - Make Some Noise half way through 'Nothing but You' then change his mind and bring 'NBY' back in

To give Bagguley his dues he did play some quality tunes while I was still in there but the fact there were only about 25 people left in there and most of them were over the age of 40 it didn't make for a great atmosphere!!

What is it with Passion - on the few occassions I have been there it has never ceased to amaze me the general state of the clientele - looks like you have just walked into the cantina scene from Star Wars

All he appeared to be doing was bumming the delay/reverb effects and sampling the odd vocal over the top of some tracks. I'm no super star DJ, but I can do this to good effect with my cdj/1210s and djm600 without the need for Ableton.

i think it would be great really....at least it would make the set more interesting....you could change tracks completely (like playing a synth loop over the track) to change it and so on. ... i think armin may use ableton on asot? ican someone confirm? cause some of the mix transitions are so seamless..

who cares. i doubt many people from the UK forum actually listen to ASOT. ableton might help him with his mixing, but it cant make his tracks sound anything other than shite.

Yes! I couldn't quite put my finger on what the fuck was going on with that until you just said it now.

I think this was the whole Ableton thing in that he was trying to give NBY a breaks type layer.
