I wouldn't say everything harthouse or all early platipus, because harthouse released some non-trance as well as early platipus.

Somehow it had early elements of all these and managed to pull it off flawlessly. Artists didnt all sound the same and more importantly it didnt abuse supersaws or follow a formula so strict that breakdowns were happening at 2.20 in every track.

I dont want to sound like I'm slagging it off, because I still like some of todays melodic trance and there are some excellent producers out there. It just seems there is a big gap between that end of trance and the harder/darker stuff for some reason. Trance producers just dont seem to be pushing that aspect of trance any more. My bet is that the push back towards that style of sound (and it will happen in time) will come from prog and psy producers anyway and not the so called current 'trance' genre.

Couldn't agree with you MORE! I think what happens is there is we all slip into rutts... and that is how I feel sometimes with many of the current tracks being released, that they follow the same formula.

My love for the music hasn't really decreased, I still get chills, but the element of suprise that captivated me back in the late 90's has seemed to dissappear, or perhaps I have just listened to too much? It just doesn't seem as magical anymore... it all seems bland sometimes.

However whenever I go back and listen to some old sets for exampel PvD - Live @ innercity 2001... i just get blown away.

I go through regular house phases. But I always come home to where the heart is, trance.

+ fucking 1!

Tenshi (Transa Remix) is my favorite Trance track. EVER.

I also do the same as you. I started getting into EDM with Trance (been listening to little bits of it since I was like 11 or 12 but never was into it that much) and last summer was when I really got into it. Anyway, last summer was strictly trance for me, then as it got later into the year, it was more Prog and DnB. Then earlier this year, I met a foreign exchange student at my school from France whose name was Vincent. He got me into House, since he let me borrow a ton of mix CDs and sets he had collected. During the times I listened to Prog, DnB, and House, I barely listened to pure Trance at all. Now I'm into Trance again. I think this keeps my love for EDM much stronger

I agree, I've never really liked acid at all. I think we are getting into abstract semantics and it's really a waste of my time to defend my opinion; so be done with it.

I'm going to see Max Graham tomorrow (really tonight as it's 2am here) and I am very excited to hear one of the vetrans of trance 'lay it down' so-to-speak.
