Only read through about half the thread, and was pretty surprised that no one mentioned this little guy name "Jay-Z".

He's rocked the mic (literally) since the begining. Like 10+ years ago, even till present day. Yes, he is much more commercial now, but even then, he is probably the only commercialized artist who I have NO problems listening to. He stopped pumping out his own albums to help promote awesome new talent he finds like Kanye and Co.

Also, Jadakiss was mentioned, but the whole crew is pretty good IMO. They are called the Lox, its Jadakiss, Sheek, and Styles. They are also a part of Ruff Ryders, DMX's (who also has some great albums) crew.

Also, as utterly, incredibly amazing it is to see the sellout 50-Cent has become; there is A LOT of older, underground NYC stuff he made several years ago. Some VERY good tracks. In fact, MANY of the lines he spits on the stuff you hear on the radio, and his newer albums are straight from the underground stuff he made 10 years ago.

Also, NAS has spit some of the most incredibly, thought provoking rhymes ever.
