I have a chemical engineering degree from an ivy league university, yet i rarely ever mention it, or feel the need to try and make others feel inadequate (i'm just happy i was fortunate enough to get an education). If you're trying to make a difference in this country, i hate to say you picked the wrong major. your english/history/politics or whatever liberal arts degree you have won't get you anywhere, considering the way you handle yourself. Don't you know that all your whining and complaining and even letters to a congressman will not do anything?

The chances of me becoming ceo of the large, global, pharma company i work for, and sending lobbyists to washington to pay politicians and sway votes, are infinitely greater than the hope of any of your letters ever making a difference. Money and big business run this country now; its sad, but true. Doesn't it suck that all of your years of studying the government and language won't do anything (except allow you to argue with people on this board), while me and my just-enough-to-get-by knowledge of politics have a good chance to make a difference, because business holds so much power? I know you enjoy arguing, and using big words, and making yourself feel important, and thinking that your debates will spur some huge movement in society. Money and power sadly rule this country, and even more sadly, i doubt you will ever have either.

Chemical engineering degree? Is that a B.S. or a Ph.D.? What you're basically saying is that you know a lot about very little - as you were focused on Chemical Engineering. I laughed at your assumption that my knowledge is based upon what I learned while getting a liberal arts degree. As I said in a previous post, I dropped out of college early on. It bored the hell out of me just like school always did when I was younger, so I learned to blaze my own trails after embarking upon a continuous and unrelenting journey towards higher cognitive development.

Anyway, I think it's the small-minded people like yourself that are much to blame for the problems in today's society. People think that they can buy anything nowadays (including happiness), but that couldn't be any further from the truth. Sure, money is power and power runs our world - but supposedly, the love of money is also the root of all evil. So I wonder where that leaves the members of the world's financial elite who are guilty of exploiting women and children (in sweatshops, etc.) for their own personal gains? Where does that leave the multinational corporations which have recently been accused of trafficking in women and children? I have a good recording from Capital Hill of Cynthia McKinney blasting Rumsfeld over the fact that one of those companies has continued to receive no-bid government contracts by the Pentagon, btw. Let me get back to my point, which is that power tends to corrupt while absolute power corrupts absolutely. Hitler sure held an amazing amount of power, as did Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Mussolini, Ghengis Khan, Ivan The Terrible, etc. Does that mean that the people should have simply capitulated and followed all of their orders? I'll let you figure that one out on your own, smart guy.

In regards to me making a difference through letters and other such discourse, it's letters to public officials and other ideas being freely disseminated abroad which have changed the course of humanity throughout the ages. Haven't you ever heard of Martin Luther and his 95 Theses? That man was able to drastically change the world's ideological landscape after taking on it's MOST POWERFUL organized religion. I'm not trying to go nearly as far as he did, though, as I'm only trying to wake people up to the fact that it's the religion of monetary greed which is steadily destroying us.

BTW - when I was a kid, my grandfather lived on the same street as prison and surveillance-industry magnate George Wackenhut. I rebelled against that money, power, ego hungry, win by all means necessary, corporate mindset at a very early age - probably because as a child I witnessed much of the pettiness and greed from some of those same CEO's whom you so aspire to be like. It took me until I was about twenty years old to actually figure it all out, but hopefully one day you will too.

In other words, you had to properly defend your ignorance. It's cool.

Like I've said before, you're being dumbed down. I know it's not your intention to keep proving me right, but you're doing it anyhow.

In the beginning there was Jack. And Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves. And while one day viciously throwing down on his box Jack boldly declared "Let there be house!" And house music was born. I am the creator and this is my house and in my house there is only house music. But I am not so selfish because once you enter my house it then becomes our house and our house music and you see no one man owns house because house music is a universal language spoke and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you're deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music. In every house you understand, there is a keeper and in this house the keeper is Jack.

Trancer-X, Money has ruled the world since you were born. Many people like you have 'tried' to 'change' everything and obviously they fail so if I were you I would start making some bucks IF you really want to make a difference. So stop reading books (you have read enough of them) and start applying some of your knowledge or your could keep writing letters and still be just another pawn. Good luck!

Sure, the status quo has always been in place - but there have been many people in the past who fought for and have successfully changed the world for the better.

Was Martin Luther King a billionaire? No, but he fought for civil rights (and was assassinated for it.) He was successful in liberating the hearts and minds of many people and helped an entire generation to see that the content of a man's character wasn't determined by the color of his money, errrr, I mean skin.

How about Buddha or the Dalai Lama's? How materially endowed were those guys? How about revolutionary thinkers such as Thomas Paine, Benjamin Rush, or John Locke? They all influenced our American Revolution as well as our Constitution and Bill of Rights, both of which are currently under attack. Thomas paine died a pauper but his ideas remain with us to this very day.

I could go on...

The world has changed. There are other ways to 'influence' the Government as well the people. Learn those ways and you should succeed or do whatever it is you're trying to do. Again, Good luck! I can see you're a smart guy so it's just a matter of adaptation. :d

I'd rather do it honestly. Although I'm sure it's implemented on a daily basis, bribery is supposed to be a crime - as it's both unjust and immoral.
