I don't know if anyone relevant is reading this anymore considering the newly arisen and totally offtopic flame war between a couple of idiots, but there's one more aspect to this story that I find interesting. Milosevic's lawyers say that he insisted that doctors and prison guards be present when he takes the medicines they gave him and that he passed through detailed scrutiny checks whenever entering his cell, thus making the suicide theory practically impossible. Additionally, I really doubt that he'd intentionally take a medicine that would bring him so close to death just so that he can have a few weeks rest in Moscow. Because even if they'd let him go there, he'd most certainly be followed by a small army of armed personell making his escape practically impossible.

He was just about to bring to the witness stand a couple of really big fish, including Kohl, Genscher, Blair, Clinton, Albright, etc., and I have a feeling he could have said quite a few unpleasant things about some of them. Overall I think that it wasn't the top Hague officials who were involved in his murder, but I'm pretty damn certain that there's a whole bunch of powerful people that would have liked to have him silenced, as well as a whole bunch of people who would gladly do so.

I was thinking that too, if he was indeed taking the wrong medicine himself, that was a mighty big risk to play, and when he saw it wasnt working...why continue with it? Also unless they did a cavity search every time he went back into his cell there are ways to smuggle a few pills in, however there is a limit to what a man would do for a few weeks rest in moscow as you put it

Also, while doing some backreading on some forums i noticed that about a year and a half ago many people thought that Milosević wont live to see the end of his triel, either by natural or some other means. And to be true his death does seem a little bit to convinient. I smell another conspiracy theory...

There is another headline in the WSJ today that says:

"Officials at the Hague say the war-crimes defendant had access to smuggled drugs, which they insist contributed to his death. Russian doctors concurred with a Dutch autopsy."

a conspiracy theory could be formulated about ANY topic. And in this there's no basis for yet as of yet. And there probably never will be any solid proof. He's dead, not too many people trully care. If he was done in, they spared him a poor excuse for a life. So, in the end, what's the big deal unless you think he was innocent or something.
