anyways, someone once mentioned that there was picture of Sasha with bunch of people where he looked so f.cked up... does anyone have it? |
I believe this is the picture you are after. Photo taken by Mwah from www.inthemix.com.au

At least two of the people in that photo, back left and front middle (Chris Fraser), were the promoters of the event in question (Twisted)
That was an awesome night, highlights include sitting down next to Sasha at the after party (both of us trashed) and asking him if he enjoyed the track playing. His answer "I better, it's my track" (Belfunk); The infamous Sasha walking out into the 11am sunlight to a waiting taxi and in a Wizard of Oz wicked witch voice saying "I'm mellllting". The 8 pills crushed and snorted rumour is pretty close to the truth as I know the people involved. My opinion on the matter is people take drugs everyday, some of them are not legal cause the authorities can't make money out of them. Millions of Americans take prozac everyday, and it has a similar though milder and longer lasting effect to MDMA. However drug companies can't make money out of it cause enough people know how to make it that they wouldn't be able to profit. A recent law thesis of a student at the Australian National Uni ( http://law.anu.edu.au/StaffUploads/...20THE%20LAW.pdf ) gives an interesting overview of the stuff going on in my state (but similar reasoning would apply most other places). It also provides a little more on the history of it.
A nice little statistic for you guys, in 3 years (IIRC 1997 to 2000)there were 81 deaths attributed to ecstacy use in the UK, and the majority of those were also with other drugs in the system.

... snip ...
The rate of deaths related to taking ecstasy in people
aged 15 - 24 during 1995 and 1996 in England was 18
and between 1995 and 1997 in Scotland was 11.
The risk of using ecstasy varies between one death
in 2000 first time users to one death in 50 000 first
time users.
... snip ...
We identified 81 deaths related to taking ecstasy.
Results of toxicological examination were made
available in 75 cases; MDMA accounted for 68 (91%),
MDA for 7 (9%), and opiates or opioids for 44 (59%) of
these cases. In 26 (38%) cases, one or more drugs
(mostly hypnotics or sedatives) had been prescribed to
the deceased patient (table).
... snip ...
Most people who died from taking ecstasy were white
employed men in their late 20s, known to services as
drug addicts, and died at home. Typically, the deceased
took several different (prescribed and non_prescribed)
drugs with ecstasy; the large number of people who
also took opiates seems surprising but confirms previ_
ous findings and may explain why a high proportion of
the victims were known to services.4 People may have
taken ecstasy with other drugs to modulate the
effects—ecstasy had, at least, a facilitating role in
causing death. A small proportion of people (6/81;
7%) died after taking only ecstasy—a previously
doubted possibility.

81 deaths in the UK in 3 years ... If I remember rightly, the stat on cigarettes is 30 Million per year or so worldwide, and alcohol is around 12 Million. You do the math. Another report also contains the stats on how many people have tried drugs at various ages, but I cbf finding it now.
Anyway, my point is that don't make an opinion on something that you've based on the standard social propaganda that drugs are bad, when it's likely that your own socially acceptable vices present a hypocritical counter to any uninformed view you may have on the subject.
