Serena will face Maria in the finals
Hard to believe that Clijsters is already retiring after this year

Part of the interview with Roddick after his match with Mardy Fish & before his match against Federer:
Q. Mardy has given you a great shot against Roger. Break down the match-up.
ANDY RODDICK: I don't know. You know, I said for the past probably five or six months, the gap has either been closing a little bit or just he hasn't been extending it, which he's probably done the last three years or so. That's a good thing.
With the match in Shanghai, I'm going to go in with a shot. I like going up and competing against him, I really do. I'm looking forward to the opportunity, assuming he gets through.
Awwwww poor Andy! Tho I don't like him much, I felt sorry for him that Federer crushed him the way he did. I think everybody, the crowd that was watching, felt sorry.. like the Dutch tv reporter already said, with the current shape of Federer, nobody in the tour could've beat him. Not even Nadal. The Fed Express was unstoppable. Pff.. men's tennis is so predictable. It's going to be a boring final. Best match I've watched in this grand slam is Nadal vs Murray, that was top notch
As for the woman's final, I think Serena is gonna win. I hope that the people in the crowd won't forget to bring earplugs, they're gonna need it.

watching federer up close, i'm convinced that he steps up his game when the situation warrants it.
i worked 4 consecutive federer matches at last year's US Open, from gicquel through to the semi against davydenko. Blake match was most intense, most challenging for Federer, but the bagel that Federer threw against him, he just was insane. I think Roger loses a set here and there to make things interesting for himself.
his shot making against guys with big servers (and all others in general) is just too amazing. every match i worked, i was in awe about how quickly he goes from defense to offense. it really does take a phenomenal shot from an opponent to beat federer.
i think roddick's game has improved since working with connors, but now that he doesn't serve the 140-150 mph bombs like he did two years ago, i think federer can pick him apart quite easily. |
one more thing i forgot to add. this guy is a demon on challenge replays. federer, while on the move, has better vision than some of the linejudges out there.
