HOLY SWEET TRANCE IN MY PANTS!!!
What a fantastic party - the best one so far this year
Made the drive with Dannie and Andrew, met up with Branden and and old highschool friend of mine, Bartek, who finally realized why I've been nodding my head to a four-four kick all these years.
The lineup was long, but it was fun to meet all the anxious party people in line. Almost worth putting up with the cold...almost
Checked the coats, thawed out, then headed to Liberation Lounge to get the festivities started. Walked into some wikked dark proghouse stuff - and although I don't recall the name of the dj that was playing at the time I do remember that I was promised a demo (PM me! lol). Must say that I really love the Liberation Lounge when its packed full of awesome people!
Dennis kicked ass (no suprise) with techy-style tunes. Rippin Bass = win! I think that he dropped Flat Mode - Play This Game, but I'm not sure if I have that tune mixed up with something else. It was a progressive house track with at techy 3/4 lead synth (I think... If anyone can ID it let me know).
I continued to get my drink on and ran into a rather inebriated Dallasstar LOL. Hilarity ensued. We fought. I won. Rematch while waiting in line for the bathroom. Dallas wins. lol @ drunken shenanagins. (We still need to schedule a tiebreaker) All this while waiting for Johan to start in the main room.
Johan Gielen. This guy has some SERIOUS stage presence. When standing behind the decks he's just massive. It was awesome that he got to build up from ground zero after the Drum and Bass guys. Second track in, some crazy rework of Faithless - awesome! One of the tracks that made my night: PHYSICAL OVERDRIVE. Wow. A really personal track for me at the moment, and hearing it dropped by the man himself just totally rocked me. His set got harder and more techy, (mixing was questionable at times) and I was starting to crave a change of pace, and looked at the time - Holy shit! It was already 430 in the AM!
Time for KVA. Well its about damn time I heard some PROPER trance from beginning to end. Great tunes, good mixing, great energy. These guys were a lot of fun. It was to the point where I was dead tired, and dancing on the sprained ankle was really starting to kill, but I kept saying "ok, after this track". Well....that attitude kept me there till the lights went on, and I don't regret one second of it.
KvA tracks of mention (although I'm sure I've left some ch00ns out)
Kush - World is Watching
Lange & Gareth Emery - Another You, Another Me
Kyau vs Albert with Marc Marberg - Megashira
KvA - Made of Sun
Blake Jarrell's mix of Chasing Cars
KvA - Are You Fine
Ronski Speed - The Space We Are (OCallaghan Mix)
KvA mix of Find was an awesome way to finish off the night.
As usual, Destiny delivers. Party of the year so far. Hands down. I kinda felt bad for not being able to make it to A&B, but after 20 mins, I realized I had definately made the right decision.
Venue 8/10 - Using upstairs coatcheck ftw, volume was good, sound was decent, the only negative was not being allowed on guestlist because the bouncer didn't agree that we were allowed +1's
Crowd 10/10 - being in the Liberation Lounge til 2:30 kept out the riff raff, great to meet new
Music 300/10 - Absolutely perfect. When a the tunes have you holding your head in awe on the dancefloor (while sober, lol), you know that somethings going right
At one point my cheeks were tired from smiling for so long
