Totally forgot I posted in this thread, lol.
I guess other people feel the way I do about way that period, because the whole 'progressive' scene was kinda imploding in on itself due to the amount of dodgy knock-offs being released by lesser DJs / labels. Progressive House generally began to feel a bit limp aroud 2001, whilst techno was starting to become interesting again.
For me, the genre was defined by GU013 Sasha, Ibiza (1999) and plateaued with GU019 John Digweed, Los Angeles (2001). Another highlight was seeing Sasha play for the first time in 2000, when the Love Parade came to the UK.
Personally, a lot of mixes from around that time are virtually unlistenable, although a few have withstood the test of time, such as the aformentioned Cass mix cd (which is exceptional).
