Done the 'exiting and scared' thing too, I think a number of factors about certain events and decisions have influenced me to err on the side of safe and bored, simply because of how easy it is to be destroyed.
We're transient, delicate creatures really and life is very hard, it's hard enough without lumbering yourself with self-made problems, time and trouble will come quickly without asking.
Usually when least needed.
But enjoy your time in the sun while you can, wearing and doing what you want, uninjured, without stress and secure in the knowledge you're doing your best to just keep your head above water and anything else is a bonus. Securing your future is just one of the easier ways of battling through it all on your terms, rather than dictated by anyone else's or fates/luck and I think there's a certain freedom in doing that as well which you just can't have without security.

Could I be doing a fuck of a lot better [financially] in an environment I am uncomfortable with, foregoing my current position in which I am generally quite sociable with my co-workers? Yeah.

More money seems overrated to me, at this point.

To some degree as a general principle it is pointless to just have money for money's sake along with the shiny things that go along with it. With enough of it though you can cut down on hours worked, doing things you want to do with those precious hours of life we're afforded (hobbies, travel, stoned off your tree, whatever you desire etc) without the manacles of things like debt, paying the rent and stress which in their own way restrict the amount of freedom you have to do what you want.
I should probably take my coaching away, I'm sounding a bit preachy and different people have their own ideas, which they're also comfortable living with the decisions they make.
