If something every went down at Guv, security there are professionals and are trained in how to hanlde the situation and direct people to the appropriate exits. As are the 4-10 police officers that they hire to work at every event/concert.

but regardless if the security or venue, if you have 7000 people in one room and someone pulls out a gun and starts shooting.. you're going to have people panicing.

a good example of an evacuation working well in Toronto would be lifeforce's freaking party at the Better Living Centre in 1998. They had a well trained security company hired for the event, and paid duty police officers on site. About midnight someone smelled smoke coming from an electrical room. 5-6 minutes later all 10,000 people inside were outside.

For the most part, people in toronto are on the ball (no pun intended)

it's difficult to compare the two, imo. Pervasive smoke is one thing, but "someone smelled smoke" is another. Now if we had a raging fire...

That sort of magnitude is akin to what happened the other night at the Caracus gig. You hear bullet shots and see carnage in front of you, that would be a HUGE challenge at the Guv during those all access events, regardless of staff preparedness.

guv (not the only guilty ones) breaks the fire code every fucking weekend by a lot(i've looked up the floor density numbers)(ft2/person) and don't kid yourself, if panic ever ensued theres not fuck all security could do , people could get trampled there in a heartbeat.

I honestly dont know what would happen if something like this occurs with the amount of people being in there but, personally I have seen many exit points,I cant remember what party it was at GUV sometime last year......One security guy stood in the middle of 5 to 6 guys and took this guy down who was trying to be all tough and shit at the patio.....They have balls I have to give them that.

When you look at the facts, I guess not. But I think what everyone's reacting too is the video; if we had just read about it in a text post, i'm sure it wouldn't have gotten as much response.

It's just the way it's filmed too. It's so easy to picture yourself front dead center, feeding off the energy of the set, then you hear what sounds like distortion and you look around and there are bodies on the ground. Not even the the DJ notices. What are your thoughts at that point?

with the monitors right there... he coxy probably just didn't hear. you can see how he starts looking up and looks kind of puzzled. probably seeing people moving around and spreading out and wondering what's going on.

Yeah exactly. You're also not really listening for gun shots when your at a club lol, he was in the zone, spinning with the music blasting and the monitors facing him, and those didn't really sound like the stereotypical gun shots either. I've never heard one in real life so I don't know, but I also never want to.
